Do the work and the invite will follow....earn the accolades...just saying the "work" would include beating tha dawgs and unsaint nics team and probably florida sec team. Essentially go undefeated is probably only way. Outside shot at it with beating two of the big three with jawja carrying most weight in the equation.

With the world against UT after the NCAA “weak” punishment he ain’t winning if they score 12 passing touchdowns and 100 points a game and he throws no interceptions for the year.

The world will be against UT after “skating” on punishment for something done by no one who is still here.

No. He doesn't need the added pressure. Let him focus on the things that actually matter so he can have the best season he possibly can.
Exactly. He needs to demonstrate that he can accurately throw long and short, command the offense, make good decisions under pressure, and move enough that defenses have to respect the threat. If he does these things, people that matter to his future will notice and the team will win at least 9 regular season games. If the team catches a few breaks along the way, anything can happen.

I would think that’s true for everyone

My point is that he doesn’t have to live up to all of the hype that some associate with him - Heisman candidate, 80-yd bombs, dual threat, 1st round pick, etc. He just has to be good at the basics. The players around him and the coaching will help him achieve a very good season and a shot at a future in the NFL.

All we need Joe to do is take care of the football and make good decisions. The rest will take care of itself. If it’s me, I’d take an SEC Championship and a Natty, or at least playing for one, over winning the Heisman all day, every day and twice on Sundays.

The Heisman is no longer an award, it is merely a media event that Nissan and ESPN propped up when the Downtown Athletic Club membership collapsed following 9/11 and the great recession. Will be interesting to see how much money ESPN can throw at the trophy now that they have a lot less money than they used to.

I'd like to see the SEC generate their own award and recognition for their player of the year, like everything else down south, it would mean a lot more.

Once upon a time, there was a QB named Daryle Lamonica who played for the Oakland Raiders. A gal who wrote a column called, Football in a Miniskirt, wrote. "The only distance greater than the distance Daryle Lamonica can throw a football is the distance between his ears." Great QBs are not always great physical specimens, to wit: Joe Montana and Bob Griese. Joe Milton has been named starting QB on two previous occasions and lost the job. I guess he"s a great practice player. When we get into the SEC schedule, we'll measure the distance between his ears.

One of the best analytics to assess a quarterback. The distance between the ears is either air or good ole grey matter. Let’s hope Joe has replaced the air with brain cells.

His play will dictate whether or not he deserves a Heisman campaign.

That's the problem with the Heisman now, its not awarded to the player with the best stats, etc, as stated by another poster above, it is a media popularity contest so not sure if a campaign helps or not. I'm sure the TN admin would help hype him if he was in the running but probably ESPN determines the winner.

And who wants to start a poll on the number of times per Tennessee games that the NCAA story is in the dialogue? You just know it's gonna.
