I keep seeing a lot of people - Tennessee fans and otherwise - implying or outright saying we don't have a chance against Georgia. I think it needs to be said that that is a bad take and frankly I don't understand it at all. Tennessee has beaten Georgia many times. Talented Georgia teams. Heck, Lyle did it twice and we know how much of a Trainwreck he was and how many games he lost for us with his poor game management. I know Georgia is coming off two national titles and is the hot team in college football right now, but still... We've got a shot. The game is in Neyland and WGWTFA

I’d love to agree but last year was a bit of a gut punch. It was clear just how much better Georgia is along the line of scrimmage. Our quarterback didn’t have time and when he almost did, our receivers were covered and we couldn’t get the run game going. Have we improved along the line of scrimmage since last year? We’ll find out. Home field will definitely help too I think. And maybe our defense will be better.

with that game now moved to late in the season, there’s no way to know right now.
key injuries on either side might well decide it.

Dobbs was the reason and Jennings.

The defensive holding the GA DBs got away with the entire game didn't hurt their cause either.

My biggest concern isn’t the obvious talent disparity, it’s that UGA has such a soft schedule that our game is circled on their calendar as the biggest game of the year.

Remember last year when video “leaked” of Kirby yelling at his DBs in practice before our game, telling them how bad they sucked? Yeah, that was 100% his way of motivating a bunch of 5 Stars to believe they were underdogs.

Anything is possible and I believe we have the best pure ball coach at UT in my lifetime (Majors was HC when I was born), but our Vols are the biggest target of the #1 roster in the country.

their LOS is nowhere near the same without Carter anchoring it. He was the main issue in that entire defense because no one could keep him from clogging the middle. add that in with all the other draft picks from their defense, a new qb......and they gotta come to NEYLAND!

yeah, VOLS by 10

Coming in to the Alabama game last year, no one gave Tennessee a chance of winning, yet we all know the outcome. Any team can lose a game they are predicted to win, remember S.C. This Tennessee team is so different than the Butch or JP teams. They actually believe they are going to win, regardless of the uniform the other team is wearing. I believe Tennessee will come out prepared and anxious to prove something against Georgia.

We were two long overthrows from being in that game. We can definitely beat GA.

I could see us beating them this year, but I felt the same last year too. It's a plus we get them at home, just wish it was easier in the season

It's not like people are pulling pessimism out of their arse. They've blown our doors off 6 years in a row. We beat Kirby Smart in his first year on a Hail Mary and haven't touched him since. It's not impossible that we could beat them, not at all, nothing is ever impossible (see our loss to South Carolina last year), but people rightly consider it one of the two least likely wins on the 2023 schedule. I would argue it's the toughest game, even though Bama is in T-Town. Bama looked wretched at QB in their spring game and apparently Saban felt bad enough that he thought going out and getting Notre Dame's back up improved the situation. Georgia's the toughest game on the schedule next year imo, despite being at home.

People say all sorts of stupid stuff on the internet.

Especially those who try to look at facts to justify their hypothesis. They will say hey Georgia is three deep better than UT at every position. And Georgia has learned how to win on big stages in adverse conditions. They will say Georgia’s coach and coaching staff are beyond elite and have the hardware to prove it. They will look at last year’s game and point out that Georgia’s game plan was brilliant.

But they ignore the most important fact -

That fact ? We are gonna beat their ass, and there’s nothing they can do about it. Vols by SIDDY.

This is true. Last year's pre season threads about the schedule had everyone looking at the UK as the best game at home to go to. AL was considered yet another guaranteed beatdown, so almost everyone wrote it off.
We shall see about Georgia. They have owned us pretty well for the last 7 quarters. No way I'm writing us off this year though.
