This is true. Last year's pre season threads about the schedule had everyone looking at the UK as the best game at home to go to. AL was considered yet another guaranteed beatdown, so almost everyone wrote it off.
We shall see about Georgia. They have owned us pretty well for the last 7 quarters. No way I'm writing us off this year though.
Alot of people's attitude about Alabama changed last year after we saw them play Texas. That was not a vintage Bama team last year. Without Bryce Young they'd have probably gone 6-6. That's why I don't discount our chances in Tuscaloosa this coming year at all.

Two things I’m looking forward to in the Georgia game this year. One: Stetson Bennett definitely not starting for the first time in forever. I’m sure the new qb will be talented but Bennett always seemed to have that innate ability to elevate when he needed to. Two: I love the game being in November. Georgia’s schedule may be soft and we’re their presumptive biggest game, but Freeze and Kiffin are both going to throw the sink at the dawgs and we’ll have plenty of film of how Georgia responds to that.

Agree, Stetson was way better than anyone ever gave him credit for. I'm glad he's gone. I don't see Auburn pushing them this year but Kiffin the week before our game could be interesting. I'm hoping that's a night game for them and we dispatch Mizzou in a nooner so our team gets back Saturday night and gets rest.

I keep seeing a lot of people - Tennessee fans and otherwise - implying or outright saying we don't have a chance against Georgia. I think it needs to be said that that is a bad take and frankly I don't understand it at all. Tennessee has beaten Georgia many times. Talented Georgia teams. Heck, Lyle did it twice and we know how much of a Trainwreck he was and how many games he lost for us with his poor game management. I know Georgia is coming off two national titles and is the hot team in college football right now, but still... We've got a shot. The game is in Neyland and WGWTFA

Vols have a chance but there’s a ton of football yet to be played. Saying “x” is unbeatable at this point is crazy.

what does WGWTFA mean?

Can't predict a win but wouldn't write this game off by a long shot. They're talented. But at some point there will be a drop off on D. May not be a lot but it is impossible to keep that level into perpetuity. UT doesn't need a lot considering the speed the Vols have at the skill positions.

I’d love to agree but last year was a bit of a gut punch. It was clear just how much better Georgia is along the line of scrimmage. Our quarterback didn’t have time and when he almost did, our receivers were covered and we couldn’t get the run game going. Have we improved along the line of scrimmage since last year? We’ll find out. Home field will definitely help too I think. And maybe our defense will be better.
You also have to admit that with all the penalties we aren't able to really play at our typical speed. That really impacted our offense.

Meh, it's the off-season. Nobody knows how the season is going to play out. Did anyone last summer see us rolling into Athens as the number 1 team in the country? Hell, I would have laughed at you and then called the authorities after you told me that.

Georgia may do an A&M and squander all that talent.

We may morph into a defensive oriented team this year.

Lot of time and about 10 football games to be played before we will see Georgia.

It’s too far away to really know. It will probably come down to the LOS again. If GA dominates the line again they probably win comfortably. If not, it’s possible that the TN offense keeps things interesting and gives them a good chance to win.

Much can happen or change between now and then though. If I had to bet right now I’d bet on GA, but who knows how things will look a week before the game?

Bennett reminded me of Forrest Gump.

We don’t have a chance against Georgia.
Folks thought the same thing out there when they played Miami in the sugar bowl in 85 with all due respect..The game against LSU and Saban in the 2001 (SEC championship) Sugar bowl still eats at the heart of a vols fan to this day ....no way UT shouldn't have won that one but they sure didn't...

I don't see many people saying the outcome is a foregone conclusion, other than the regular fan talk on both sides. Both teams should have good talent and depth; Georgia with the edge there, but UT has the edge in experience. To me, the game has the potential to be another highly ranked matchup similar to 2022. If I had to pick the critical head to head position groups, I think a lot depends on how Georgia's DL develops vs how Tennessee's OL develops. And of course how well the quarterbacks play is always a major factor.
