It was all the refs fault.......wonderful Bammer tears.....

Refs weren't calling a whole lot but it was both ways. I actually thought it was a well officiated game.

Agreed. There were two instances where we fouled their player by hitting his arm with our chin. It is what it is. People can always cherry-pick 'bad officiating' or 'missed calls' here and there. There is no way they are ever going to make every call. If they did, the fans would explode because there would be a foul called on almost every play. I don't hating officiating - I hate inconsistent officiating. Set the tone and stick with it. The tone last night seemed to be 'let them play'. That certainly favored us last night.

I prefer the refs letting teams play early and only switch to calling more frequent fouls if they are about to lose control of the game and the possibility of a fight breaking out becomes real. I hate it when they start out calling EVERYTHING and then allow rough play after several players are in foul trouble and it had already become a free throw shooting contest.

I saw several references, at least 3, to Thugesee and UThug, etc. I find it so ironic this team’s fans are referring to Tennessee as thugs.

Have you saw our fans after a loss? Can't really make fun of other teams saying it's refs fault when many on here do the same thing unfortunately

Yeah,it happens with every fanbase, and sometimes it's warranted. The refs just let them play, and Alabama couldn't play that kind of game. I wouldn't say the refs costed Alabama the game. Also, the defense on UTs end creating turnovers was imo the biggest reason for them losing. People are just in the moment because of a recent loss.

My avatar is usually the white helmet with orange script font. But I have switched mine to The Sandlot for baseball season 😁

That wasn’t the way it was chanted last night. And somebody made Jarnigan announce something about refraining from the bad language.
Bama fans have always been insufferable. In my case, I have kinfolk who are Bama fans, and they were chirping BEFORE the game yesterday. AFTER the game…crickets. One of them finally inquired about why I wasn’t talking trash after the game.

There was no need. We were favored. We handled our business. We beat them with 2 starters watching on the bench, only playing an 8 man rotation. Buck Fama.

True. But some were really egregious. Arizona shot 27 FTs and we shot 10. Last night, fouls and FTs were pretty even up until the end when Alabama HAD to foul. One recent game I believe we shot 3 FTs the whole game??

That said, I thought the game was called sort of “streaky”. The beginning of the game and most of the first half, the fouls seemed to favor Alabama (FTs pretty much kept them in the game). I thought it favored us in the second half (some of the charges called on Alabama had me shaking my head). There were other misses along the way (I believe it was Aidoo getting mugged on a dunk that was a no-call). All in all it seemed to be “pretty even”.

I saw on some of the threads that some Bama fans thought it was called fairly evenly just WE are built for a streetfight and THEY are not. So in that vein, blaming the refs for allowing the “style of play”. Can’t say I disagree but that’s on them for being soft….

^ This!! I was soooo proud they didn’t storm the court. “Yeah, we’ve been here before.”

They can get over it. Physical works both ways. I saw Bediako throw 3 hip checks in the first 5 minutes and the only one they called was when he kneed Santi in the thigh and knocked him down. They probably thought that was a legal pick.
There was also some of their fans complaining about our moving picks. They also admitted Bama was doing it too just that we were much more “effective and skilled” at it.

I also saw some of them complaining Uros should have been tossed. I actually thought that was his most "cordial" game of the year. He actually tried to help up their guy he hammered for continuing to play on after the whistle instead of taunting him….

Even if they weren’t ranked #1 at the time, we have beaten teams just as good or even better than this Alabama team. That’s not to say they aren’t a great team but in recent years we’ve beaten programs like Arizona, Kansas, Gonzaga, North Carolina, and Kentucky that have had more talent than them. We are used to playing and beating really good teams at this point.

And you are correct. Funny and delusional. There are some whiny little beeyotches in that thread. It was a physical game on both sides. Get over it. One moron actually thought that the school gets to hire the refs that do the game until someone finally corrected him. They found a team last night that wasn’t going to play their little finesse game.
Well he is not a moron, he is just ignorant. Oh you're just being nice Sheriff

The best you can hope for is consistency. If the refs call it both ways, that's a win. What is maddening is when they let one team get away with things they're whistling the other team for. That type of officiating is what breeds conspiracy theories. Just be consistent with the calls so the players know what is and is not going to be called.

As always….this only applies to wins.

Contrary to popular belief, it is a physical sport as long as the refs don’t turn it into the ballet. It’s very simple. You see what the refs will allow and adjust accordingly. Bama didn’t adjust.
