The jury's still out on what kind of President Obama will be.

The verdict is in on the the inauguration poem, however. It sucks.

Also, from listening on the radio, one of the many snipers in the area should have given Aretha Franklin a warning shot.

I'm excited for a new era. I believe the media rancor of the last 8 years will ease substantially and the spin on the daily news will get considerably more positive. I'm no fan of Obama's politics, but much about our economy is the psyche of its participants. If we can keep the optimism about the direction America and its economy is headed that tends to follow Obama around, then he might be just what the doctor ordered for the near term. His policies won't impact anyone for a while, so maybe we can bask in the glow of the euphoria surrounding him.

I earnestly believe what I just said, believe it or not.

I certainly agree with that. That being said, the participants of this economy knew the winner of this election 2.5 months ago.

I learned all about American History in 5th grade social studies and then again in undergrad school as part of two core classes. That said, I'm happy Obama decided to make his speech a 20 minute American History for Dummies course. I needed the refresher. Who knew we've battled so bravely over the past 230 years?

Good luck Obama.

Whether or not you voted for him is of no consequence now. He is the man and hopefully can do some good.

I wonder who is happier right this moment? Bush or Obama.

Can't say I disagree on that one. The poem just sounded like it was read by a HS freshman.

They should have had Obama read it. He could read the menu at Mickey D's, and it would inspire you.

Bush most definitely. He's got a ranch in Crawford, TX waiting for him, and maybe he can re-gain ownership of the Rangers again.

Amen Bill! I wondered if I was the only one that noticed that.

Okay. I'll keep the 30-some odd percent of my income that goes off to uncle sam each year and substitute it with some unbridled optimism.

I admit Obama is one hell of a speaker, but he just really didn't hit it there, at all. The invocation guy, a little too much.

Well....joevol hadn't posted yet :)

..and he is our president...or are you already making predictions for the next election :p

bad choice of words, you are correct. Time will tell. He made pledges that will be hard to keep, Americans are pretty patient though. If the spending gets too insane and we don't see substantial recovery the next challenger will give him a very good race.

I've been avoiding this forum for a couple of months.
I'll assure you that I'm not one to buy hope, change and optimism as the plan for the future. That said, I do think he can move things like consumer confidence and get housing moving to some degree, just based on the fact that people believe things will get better. The doom and gloom from the major media will definitely change some.
