It's 12:00 - We Have a New President

Not really. We've been treading water with a lame duck leader for 4 years. It's going to take some time for the confidence to come back.

Sorry, I did not tread water. My income increased, I found Bush's role in my income to be fairly insignificant.

Many of those who use the "messiah" tag do so jokingly, kind of mocking the early panty throwers and fainters at his rallies.

Just trying to let you in on the joke.

Very few here have wished him anything but the best, why are you complaining?
why would you spend the time with someone boasting an Obama Hope avatar and using the word biscuit regularly?

The man showed some nerve but who wouldnt? Those who use this messiah tag are ridiculous. I don't know how anyone who witnessed the last 8 years wouldn't at least wish the man well on this day wether you agree with his politics or not

why would I wish him well when I feel his ideas are going to hurt the US and lead to more/bigger gov't?

I can't help it. Just like you can't help but turn a perfectly good McRib down when a piece of Reno beckons.

It bears repeating....this is an utterly depressing day for our country. We clearly aren't the "wise" nation we once were.

Which is a very odd opinion to take, to say the very least. Not to say you're wrong, it's your opinion, opinions aren't right or wrong, but the man has a 70% approval rating to start out. Clearly people here believe in the guy.

Agreed. To see good things happen in spite of bad ideas would only encourage more of the bad ideas. I do fear a scenario of short term good signs in the economy coupled with his ideas. It would only strengthen and feed them.

What specific policy is he going to enact to hurt the country?

Spending even more than Bush has will certainly hurt this country in the long run.

It isn't about specific policies so much as it is the sum of those policies.

sounds like he's ready to seriously load up on debt and tax those with the greatest ability to repay it to the point that they stop generating the revenues that create those means.

I don't like for one second what is likely to become of our military and intelligence services.

70% approval rating based on what? He isn't Bush?

That number means absolutely nothing.

Bush posted higher numbers than that early in his Presidency too

Ehh, I think it does. Bush was such a polarizing figure, and people want change, not to mention someone who unites people. They see that in Obama. They've put all their eggs in the Obama basket, and hope it works out.

I wish him well. The adoration is getting old.

A job approval rating at this point is a meaningful as preseason polls.

Just because he is popular does not mean that he is worthy of office. Being able to win approval from the masses is not a trait that makes a good leader.

Did you not hear the interviews the night the election? People actually think he will find a way to pay their bills for them.

I don't think people really believe that. If they do, their perception of reality is blurred a bit.

Well, the preseason polls do make a difference. If you're outside the Top 20, you're eliminated from NC contention, unless we're talking 2007 type season here.
