My wife was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes a year and a half ago. A slow growing form of cancer, but the word cancer scares anyone. She is 18 months cancer free now, and it is my sincere hope and prayer that you one day can testify the same to another hurting Vol brother/sister going through what you are your wife are going through. Stay strong, let this draw you back to the Lord and seek Him and His peace and wisdom.

Thank you so much and here's hoping your wife stays cancer free. I'm scared to death but Laura comes from a family of fighters. Her Grandmother fought Multiple Sclerosis from 1966 to 2014 I kid you not. She suffered everyday but never lost her resolve. She swore she would live to see her kids and grandkids grow up and she did. Lauras mom had a heart attack and coded on the way to the ER. They shocked her back after 4 mins plus. She had to have 7 bypasses. That was in late 2001 and she is still up and kicking here in 2018 Lauras Grandfather survived two tours in Korea He would tell you that a Chines machinegun took most of his left hand and that damn Korean winter took 3 of his toes lol but they learned quick not to mess with an American boy with a fiance waiting for him. He also fought and beat skin cancer. He was the type of man that you can only hope that you can become. A mans man with a big heart. It was a honor to say I knew him.

Laura is a Maynard and they don't come tougher than the Maynard Clan of Eastern Arkansas. Her resolve was set the moment they told her she had cancer. She is slowly learning to walk and so far all the chemo including her spinal injections hasn't even made her sick.

She told me many times that failure isn't an option. She swore that she would live to see every one of our kids graduate. If anyone can kick cancers ass it is Laura, especially when she's in a bad mood. :)

This is Bo and Ann Maynard taken right before he out for his first tour in Korea. Ann fought Multiple Sclerosis for over 45 years and Bo survived two tours in Korea. They married in 52 and were by each others side till his death in 2013. She died a year later. They're marriage survived War, Illness and even the sudden death of two of their children. They lost their 10 year old daughter to a bike accident in their front yard in 72 and lost their only son to a sudden heart attack in 2010. He was Lauras father and he was 51.

They overcame so much and never became bitter or hateful even though they had every right to. Laura would make them both proud right now. She fights with the same will and spirit they did.

Okay I'm getting my composure back now. I'm so sorry nation. I feel like I just vomited up poison. Thank you for bearing with me. I won't lie that panic attack came out of nowhere.

Use either one. We can text, talk, pen pal, doesn't matter.

Did I read that you're in Nashville right now?

Praying for your wife, you, and your children right now. Someone very close to me was diagnosed with cancer this past spring. It was bad news, good news, bad news, good news, etc... just an emotional roller coaster. Anyway, I was hoping for six months longer with her.....Here we are 8 months later with a better prognosis than we could have asked for. Things may seem hopeless at times, but don't give up. We quit worrying about the diagnosis and the prognosis and just started taking care of each other.

Stay strong Hoss. I can't imagine your pain right now. You have a pretty good support group here at VN. Praying you both are raising those kids together for many years to come.

For the love of my life Laura Duncan. My heart, my soul, my sweetest friend

Thank you so much and I know as long as she's breathing there is hope. She's fighting back like a champ. It's awe inspiring at times. She is the strongest person I've ever known. I just had a moment of panic earlier. They happen from time to time. It tends to happen when everything is quiet and I have time to be alone with my thoughts. I just had to keep typing till it passed.

Once again thanks for the support and sorry for last night. Exhaustion and fear are a bad combo. I lost control for a bit but I got some shuteye and I'm feeling way better this morning. I avoided posting these past 3 weeks because I feared I might do what I ended up doing anyway. Thank you all for letting me loose my mind for a bit lol
