watching all you doubters change your tunes after Milton puts on a clinic Friday night.

GTFO with that baseball BS.

The man is our QB. Show a little respect around here.

I hope you are right, but I doubt it. Halze has already said there will be a QB competition in the spring no matter what happens Friday night. So, I read that as Milton has not shown enough to be the '23 starter yet and won't be unless he comes out of spring practice as the clear #1.

yes sir, and I am not afraid to eat crow myself. If he stinks it up, then so be it.

I just aint with the ones who already made up their minds, like they got some kind of crystal ball.
Crystal Ball? There’s plenty of game film to see over his 5 years. People aren’t going out on a limb here. The only way he succeeds is if the game plan is designed for nothing but rifles. Asking him to complete the throws HH made will not work. You don’t think they have him practicing finesse throws? It just isn’t in his repertoire. Get over it.

This is correct. Milton is a phenomenal QB in terms of potential and physical attributes. The real issue is one of maturity and leadership. Milton acts a bit like a kid in a candy shop on the field. I remember him doing the "mooning" action to the coaches after the Kentucky game because he didn't get to air it out. Also, if you watch him he is always smiling at the coaches. He doesn't have the winning hunger that Hooker had. He needs to get that stuff put together and everything else will follow. My concern is that those things are not necessarily learned. Here is to Milton maturing and leading this team to victory.
I don't know about that I think he's shown a lot of maturity accepting being demoted from #1 QB and being totally supportive of the team. I don't think maturity will be the issue. I think it'll be ability to read the defenses quickly and throw accurately.

I hope he becomes what we have to have to make this machine run at wide open speed. As far as showing him respect….he must earn his respect. He must put it all together. Have the arm and athletic ability his has is not enough. He must get his head in the right place to be the man. 🤞

I 100% believe he has earned respect by being a great leader and teammate, not that respect from any of us means anything to him. The guys in the locker room love him, respect him, and play hard for him......that alone should "earn" respect from us.

✅ Love for team, “sticktoitiveness,” and swag.
✅ Incredible arm talent, overall strength, and athleticism
✅ Mental game (running the offense, making reads)

Just needs to be consistently accurate. His issues are almost like golf issues. And honestly it’s still hard to know how much he’s progressed since last season due to small sample size. If he proves to have taken a major step forward, Clemson as well as next year’s opponents are going to have all they can handle and possibly much more.

I guess we’ll see. If he stinks it up and displays the same level of accuracy as last year, I really hope Heupel snags Grayson McCall, Brenan Armstrong or Spencer Sanders. I think any of those three would bring a similar level of production to Hendon.

I read that as: We don't want Jackson to jump into the portal before he has a legit chance to win or lose the job for next season.

I haven’t seen much disrespect towards Milton. Almost every critic of his loves him and is rooting for him, but has concerns(mainly) about his long ball accuracy, which has been a career long issue for him. Why do fans attack other fans so much for pointing out valid concerns? Why do so many people in this day and age have no concept of it being possible to love and support someone while either disagreeing with them or having concerns about their actions/play? Milton is loved by every Vol fan I know. It’s not disrespectful or hateful to have concerns over issues that aren’t debatable. I don’t know one fan that doubts Minton is the answer next year who wouldnt LOVE to be wrong, like I was about Tee Martin in 98. Gracious, I’m so sick of this type stuff.

I'm interested in what Tayven Jackson can bring to the table. Hope he gets a shot to showcase his talent. Hated to see him get knocked out of the UTM game.

Yeah I think the real tension here is actually less about Milton himself and more about the people who say "Milton's gonna be amazing" or some kind of Heisman player. I think it sets people off. It kind of sets me off a little, to be honest. It sounds foolish, just claiming he'll suddenly be this all-world superstar quarterback. And when you watch him play, and he more or less looks about the same as he did last year, and not that different than he looked four years ago at Michigan - it all just sounds foolish. "Oh but he did this this year." Yeah, against ... who? Ball State? Akron? You're basing your claims on mop up time in those games? That just all sounds silly, and not well thought out. I think the vast majority of the Miltdown comes from that frustration. Like, settle down. He may be okay. It'd be awesome if he's suddenly better. But there's four years of tape, and he's not that different than he was as a freshman. I don't know. People should be a little more rational. Dang.

Reminds me of the backlash in the JG days (his first year or two) when anyone dared raise concerns about him. I don’t even dare try to reel people in when it comes to Nico. He’s being built up only to be torn down, because the expectations for him before he even stepped foot on campus, were sky high.

I hope Milton balls out. We NEED him to be the best overall QB on the roster going into next year. Even with Nico and TJ in the mix, their learning curve is still steep wrt the system. If Milton misses some passes tomorrow night, I hope he remains calm and works through it. Don't need him to panic or press too hard. His tendency seems to be to press harder if he's missed some passes. Then, the bazooka comes out and the overthrows become fantastic. I think Heupel will try to call plays that have the best chance to keep him in rhythm. You know good and well Clemson is going to press man on the outside and drop LB's into zone like GA did. The underneath stuff should be there with our TE's and RB's. If Milton can get comfortable and keep the game in front of him, then I think we see a few shots deep. His arm strength, though, is just the most amazing thing I think I've ever seen in college football. 70 yds is effortless to him.

11-21,147yds 1td……..If you read these stats in a game about a team and you don’t know anything about the player or who they played. (I want you to be honest)….Tell me do you think this was a good game for that player or even question if they won that game???? Be honest…..

Seems like a good dude, and apparently not afraid to put someone in their place. 😉
Coach believes in him. I hope he has a breakout game.
Solid QB depth in Knoxville next season would be fine with me.

Of course, two years with Heupel can't possibly have improved him at all. The only thing worse than those anointing him as immaculate, are those writing him off unequivocally. You stated his success came against Ball State and Akron. Regardless of opposition, he hit wide open receivers in stride time and again. The vast majority of the TDs that HH threw were to wide open receivers. The game against Vandy was in very bad weather for throwing the ball. I hope he balls out tomorrow night. If he doesn't, next man up. I will support whomever plays just the same.

Not really up to us but lots of folks are pulling for him. All he has to do is show he can get it done. Everything is in front of him for the taking. We’re going to find out Friday what he’s got against a good defense. If he is successful, that will go a long way to quiet the naysayers. If he doesn’t, the noise will get louder.

No it won’t quieten them, they think it’s cool to say Overthrow Joe & Bazooka Joe. So if he hits 65%+ of his passes but overthrows a couple they’ll be around, it’s what they do. To them it’s all in fun and entertainment and getting likes.

I never wrote him off. I didn't say he was going to fail. I said it's silly for people to act like his play against weak teams in mop up time is proof of anything significant.. And actually, I think comparing Hooker with Milton's by saying "they're both throwing to wide open receivers" is disingenuous. You're ignoring when those throws were made, how long they held on the ball, what kind of reads they had to make, the defense they were throwing against, and a lot of other things to consider. How often did each guy miss a wide open receivers? I wonder. But whatever. The guys were open so it's all the same. Ok.
