Brazen smash-and-grab suspects loot Chicago exotic store, steal millions in in merchandise

One of the suspects allegedly stood guard with a gun while another smashed a watch case with a hammer

Armed smash-and-grab looters broke into a high-end exotic car dealership in Chicago, stealing millions of dollars in watches.

"We're here to run a legitimate business, not be a western shootout," Joe Perillo, co-owner of Gold Coast Exotic Motor Cars, told ABC7.

Two men reportedly entered the dealership, which boasts a showroom of Lamborghinis and Bentleys, around noon on Saturday. One man was armed with a gun and stood by the entrance of the dealership while the other man used a hammer to smash display cases and allegedly stole about eight luxury watches, Fox 32 reported.

I wouldn't be too quick to blame this increase on lack of arrests. 2020 was a crazy year where people were just fkn angry all the time, and stressed out by the pandemic, race relations, the election, etc. Child and spouse abuse were up dramatically in Utah according to LDS church statistics. I doubt it was because cops weren't arresting people.

This map was interesting

Fox News just had the store owner on for a interview and he said he wasn’t aware of all the outrage across the country about crime until this happened. The owner must be a leftist and/or live in a cave.

Yeah, joe is responsible for the 2020 stats.

Yep. As soon as Trump took office he immediately was to blame for all of Obama’s screwups. So now it’s Bidens turn. When a person becomes president , anything bad is immediately his fault. Conversely anything good is his predecessors doing.

Homeless and mental health issues. A sad connection.

I hope he receives the long term institutional mental health care and supervision he obviously needs.

If that was your only son that he murdered, you might not be so sanguine. But then, so it is with liberals - always willing to spend other people's blood and money.

There used to be an old saying - a liberal is a conservative that hasnt been robbed yet. I am not sure that is always true anymore, however.

I am well aware of the depths of despair I could sink to and what my anger and desire for vengeance would call me to do. That's why the law exists - to protect the accused from our primal desire for immediate retribution.

And don't pretend to know me and my background. Your labels are ****.

I certainly dont pretend to know your background. I am responding to the thought you posted, however as well as the general liberal propensity to be "free" with things that are not.

And our social contract exists first and foremost to execute justice according to law, secondarily to protect the accused until guilt or innocence can be determined. Your thoughts put the accused before the victims, and that line of thinking is why "justice" is not working anymore.

When justice does not work, when the guilty are not punished, then arises the mob because the contract is broken. It is that willingness to severely punish the guilty that protects the innocent and the accused, for only when that is firmly established in the public mind are the aggrieved willing to delegate their absolute right for justice (even in blood) to a neutral authority.

It is not because protecting the innocent is not vital but it is only when I am sure the guilty will be punished can I be patient while the guilt of specific parties is examined. Justice does not exist to protect the accused, only the innocent. The trouble is that when someone is accused, guilt or innocence has not been established and thus justice has no say unless or until the accused becomes the guilty.

When I was a kid there was a place called the French quarter on 161 in Columbus. It was really cool with apartments up top and shops on the bottom with a world food court. There was a mall down the street called south land that had a restaurant in the basement of Lazarus/Macy’s.

Both are gone now.

Mall downtown is gone due to gang shootings.

Easton is surrounded by the second largest Somalian population in the country.

Outside if upper Arlington and sawmill rd area you just stay outside of the 270 outer belt.

Oh, democratic mayor by the way who has lost the total support of the local police.

We're closer on all of this than you think.

A young man died, needlessly. He and his family had every expectation of safety in his bike ride. Now his family is in deep pain and loss and who knows how many families won't let their children ride that area anymore. When one person dies a tragic and needless death, so much dies along with them.

I believe the accused should be permanently removed from society for this crime if/when found guilty. Either to prison until which time as he dies (of natural causes or otherwise), or to a mental institution until he is deemed fit to enter the prison population and assume his sentence.

A person is born schizophrenic and due to family income never gets help and is passed through the system. In his/her 20s they have a sever episode and begin hearing voices. The voices and psychotic break lead to them murdering a completely innocent person.

They are arrested and institutionalized where they are finally given treatment and help. During this treatment they are able to manage their illness and show true remorse for their actions that occurred while unstable.

If this person is now monitored and stays on their medication should they be put into a prison now that they can understand their previous actions or should they be allowed back into society with heavy supervision?

I honestly lean against prison.

I get this is a very slippery slope but our society since Reagan has really screwed over those with mental issues.

The boards democrats have the root causes and the solutions. Some will be here momentarily to provide the remedy.

Who among us democrats on the board has said anything other than that we ought to be prosecuting the crap out of criminals arrested for gun offenses? We all urge that occur. I personally favor mandatory minimums, like at least ten years, for any such offense.
