Dude UK lost to Gardner Webb, Houston, San Diego, and UAB last year and then played exceptionally well in the SEC (full of "better teams" with "better crowds"). They made the tourney with all those losses last year in a much more competitive conference last year. Given, they are UK, but still we have no losses as bad as that.

Every team improves the longer they play together. We are still searching for an identity as a team. We are still learning when to shoot and when to not, when to pass, and where to pass. It looks simple watching from your couch but being on the court is totally different. this team is still feeling out who they wanna go to. Trust me when i say we will get better.

EXAMPLE:
We should have fed chism way more today. Prince was killing them with penetration and a dish to the post player.

Yes....Kentucky played well in the SEC...which was later in the season. Meaning they proved they got better. We are playing bad IN the SEC, meaing the middle to later part of the season. As I pointed out playing saying you need to improve in November/December is one thing (which is when Kentucky struggled), saying you need to improve once you are well into the conference schedule is quite another and that is where we are. So it doesn't really compare to Kentucky's situation. It's pretty much common sense.

And again, if by almost mid-February you still haven't found an identity, then 9 times out of 10 you are not going to make a strong finish. I don't care if you're on the court or on the couch, that is the truth.

here we go again... you guys are so selfish its ridiclous this team doesnt have the experiance last yr team had and everyone thinks we r goin to domiante the ncaa since we had a good run of 2 or 3 years it takes time to build a team in basketball.. okay lets fire pearl who took ut bball from basically death to one of the brighter programs in the country but yh lets run him off after losing 5 players from last yr team and playing mostly freshman at the wings good luck in that regards

Very good point . I think the Tigers had an NIT appearance when Cal 1st got there.

Guys come on we will make the tourney... We are probably going to win the east. We WILL win the next two games and then loose one of the three biggies (usc, uk, uf). Sure we need to improve a TON but we have an super tough schedule compared to most teams in the nation. Not to mention quality wins of Georgetown, Marquette, UF, Siena. Our worst loss is to a 14-9 auburn team. come on we r fine.

How long will we last in the tourney?

Its moronic to talk poorly about bruce right now. I'm sure he is real happy with the team. Any of you ever coached? He has a new group totally differnt from last years team playing together for the first season ever. Teams take time... Not necessarily a month or two... Some take over a year and this one appears that way. Today I was very upset with the effort, cbp is not getting the best out of his players but I bet you he will

If Bruce is really happy about this team, I don't like our future.

I guess you didn't sense my sarcasm..
I would be willing to bet that no one is more upset or staying up all night to figure this team out more than CBP

Hopefully, pearl comes up with something to get the team hot in the SEC tourny down in Tampa and win a few games there. Going to the lowly NIT is embarrassing.

Looking at the remaining schedule, 20-10 (11-5) should be the worst record the Vols will have. Couple that with RPI rankings, and strong non-conference schedule and the Vols will be in the NCAA. Remember the year Alabama got in with something like a 16-14 record because of their non-conference schedule.

Like I've been saying, Tennessee will be in the tournament and be a 6 or 7 seed. No need to panic.

Uh.....WRONG. They will lose at Florida, Kentucky, and South Carolina. I hate to say it, but road games are never a given in the SEC. Not to mention the fact we still have road games at Alabama and Ole Miss. Don't see us winning those either. With the way the game went today, if UT doesn't show more grit and passion, then they will be a huge disapointment. I understand they're young, but 22 games into the season, they have to know what it takes to get the win.

The announcer said it best. Tennessee gave up with less than 3 minutes to go. They should of kept their motors running.

I was confident after the win at Arkansas that this team could pull off the next 4 wins, but I don't see that happening. They should beat Georgia and maybe Bama. But I see Ole Miss pulling one out on us too. If they trip up there then you can :mf_surrender:

LOL, NO FREAKING WAY!!!!

A. No way they are a 6 seed. They would have to win at Florida and Kentucky or South Carolina...these teams are foaming at the mouth to destroy us....sorry guys

B. They will lose on the road to either Alabama or Ole Miss...sorry, but road games scare the @##t out of me.

C. They will lose one more game at home, guaranteed.

D. They will lose the opener of the SEC tourney. They have no fight, whatsoever.
Maybe, it was a hangover from a huge win in Arkansas that got this team in trouble today. But after what I saw, which in my mind was a must win game, I don't believe this team will make the tourney.

IN MY OPINION!!

Seriously, you think the panel would invite a 16-14 UT team to the tourney? The league is way down this year, and wins against Georgetown and Siena doesn't look as impressive as they did 11 games ago. Tennessee needed that win against Gonzaga at home...couldn't get: They needed that win on the road against Auburn...couldn't get it: They needed that win at home against LSU....couldn't get it. If we win those three, the pressure isn't as intense as it is now. The kids are too young to handle pressure. If they win those three, confidence is high, they have a strong record...17-5....and they could afford to drop games on the road. Now, they really, really, really need to beat Florida...ON THE ROAD; they need to beat USC....ON THE ROAD; they need to beat Kentucky....ON THE ROAD; WORST OF ALL THESE TEAMS ARE FOAMING AT THE MOUTH TO KICK OUR TEETH IN!!!!

Need I say more?

FYI... Alabama is a home game. There are 8 games left: 4 at home (UGA, Vandy, Miss St, Alabama) and 4 on the road (Ole Miss, Kentucky, Florida, South Carolina).

As I see it:
Wins: UGA, Vandy, Alabama
Toss Ups: Miss St, @Ole Miss, @South Carolina
Losses: @ Kentucky, @ Florida

I'm projecting 5-3 over the last 8, which will give us a 10-6 SEC record and 19-11 overall record. Win one in the SEC tourney and we are in the dance with a 8/9 seed.

Only speaking for myself here, but UT is 22 games old. There not straight out of Highschool. They have had ample time to win or know how to win "winnable games" Im sorry but games at home, Gonzaga, LSU, and even Kentucky (judging by the way we beat Florida) made those games winnable! (hopefully that is spelled right) Anyways, the game today was definately winnable. Just don't understand how they compete against Marquette and Georgetown and Siena the way they do, on the road no less, and then come SEC time, they look confused and unprepared.

There is cause for concern here. It's disappointing for sure. I'm tired of saying..."we'll there young dum de de do..." BS, if this team is as talented as it's suppose to be, then Pearl should have no trouble winning those games. Plain and Simple.

The blame has to lie somewhere.?

I agree with your analysis. If Bama is a home game, which maybe it is cause I believe we did play them on the road last year, then we could finish strong.

My question is who steps up? Where did Brian Williams go? What about Tatum? These guys have to step it up.

But what about the tossups? What is that? If that is the case, chalk those up as Losses. We have yet been able to prove that we could win a toss up......Sorry bro, I respect your thoughts, just not sure UT is up to the task!

Tennessee already beat two of the top teams in the East. I think we won those toss ups. You still haven't made a valid point as to why Tennessee will not make the tourney. I expect you never will.

I wish I had an answer for ya bro. The bottom line is I'm not giving up on this Tennessee team or any Tennessee team for that matter. The football team made me want to hang myself most of the time but, I continued to support the team. It's all the REAL Tennessee fans can do.
