Probably about the same percentage that would vote for any Democrat. I would be interested in knowing what percentage would vote for an African American Republican candidate. That would give you a better snapshot on how much race plays a factor.
JC Watts would get nowhere near the support Obama has. Nothing close.

Race is always a factor but mostly people are voting for party, which is not to say that race doesn't have an impact on which party one chooses. Republicans don't like Obama for many reasons -- one is his perceived deference to minorities. Doesn't matter if Obama is white or black, he's a Democrat.

On the flip side, Republicans would not have a problem voting for Colin Powell -- because he's a Republican. See also: Black democrats hating Clarence Thomas. It's basic tribalism.
