It's time to stop crying!

A guy who wins a share of or 4 outright conference titles at 2 different schools/conferences with a .650 winning % and endorsed by virtually everyone who knows him in both college and the NFL is a bad hire?

No, a guy with a .420 winning % who's never won crap is a bad hire. A young punk who's father who's was a good NFL coordinator and who was fired from a NFL HC job with a losing record who had never been a collegiate HC... that's a pathetic hire.

I'm not happy with where this team is right now, with how they and the coaching staff have performed THE LAST 4 WEEKS and have said so, many times, many different ways in numerous threads.

But to now throw a tantrum and just say he was a pathetic hire? That's being irrational, overly emotional and using poor judgment IMO. I have questions about whether he'll get it done and the last 4 games are unacceptable. But step off the ledge and give him a little more time than 11 games before saying it was an awful hire.... whether he works out here or not, it wasn't.

You sound like you like losing! Wake up!! The season is over and we were horrible!!! CBJ needs to step up in 2014 and show improvement for all the money he is being paid. He needs to be held accountable!!

Lol....oh yeah man....I mean if we'd had Saban or (name any other big name) we'd won 8 -10 games this year with all this talent!!! You're delusional and out of touch with our roster.......period!

Trust me I am not on a ledge, I have not let UT football get me upset in a long time. I believed it when he was hired and I have seen nothing to date that would make me believe he is anything but a worthless hire. I hope like hell I am wrong.

Yeah...but it was the biggest offensive play of the game with the game on the line. Whatever man...you're refusing to see the big picture. I promise you it'll take at least two years for TN to be relevant again. So your options are 1.except that fact 2.find another program or 3.check back in two years. I promise you....it KILLS me to see us struggle, but I do think Butch will get things turned around. He will win a lot of recruits/parents over on the recruiting trail. That's where it all starts.

4. Ehhh they suck, what else is new.

We live in a time where instant gratification is a mindset and not a reality. We will get back to the top; albeit, it won't be quickly.

Just trying to give some context, his history of winning, his track record. I'm disappointed with his performance the last 4 weeks on the field.... it's been awful and I can't explain why the team has regressed IMO from 2 very good performances vs Ga and SCar. But looking at it objectively, empirically, it was a good hire.

I'm hanging my hat for now on his off field performance in recruiting and improving the culture for now. It's just too early, to me, give up on the guy.

Absolutely! The thing that frustrates me a bit with you TM3, Wylo and a few others is how quickly you've bailed on your support for what's going on currently. I agree that the Vandy loss is hard to deal with and maybe should have been a win (keep in mind that same team shellacked us last year) It's not necessarily indicative of the overall direction of the program.

I just feel that the frustration from multiple failures with coaching going back all the way to Fulmer's final years have created an environment where fans look at negative early results and immediately default to "it's coaching". It's actually much more than that currently and coaching may be the least of the problems. You guys dismiss that as excuse making though and refuse to open your mind to the notion that there may be some team deficiencies that simply can't be overcome by scheming and less than a year of player development. But I will say that blaming the coaches is definitely the easiest outlet for frustrated fans whether actually warranted or not (fake field goal excluded lol). I for one will take a wait and see approach and at least give CBJ another year or so before I begin passing judgement. It's just far too early to do otherwise.
:peace2:

I was called a negavol for taking a wait and see approach all during the off-season. While this place was peeing themselves with every tweet that came talking about how team 117 "gets it" and how they've fully bought in to the new coaching staff, how this team is going to surprise people, how this team will go to Oregon and win (there were plenty on here that said that).... I said, let's see what happens in Nov.

It's easy to be all "rah-rah" in June, July, and August. But what's the attitude like after playing Oregon, UF, UGA, USC, Bama, Mizzou, and Auburn. That's a tough, tough stretch.

I'm not dismissing the talent issue. It's evident. However, I didn't see team 117 "get it" when the season on the line. UT was not out-talented by Vandy. All UT needed was 1 yard to put the game away and couldn't get the 1st down. At that point Vandy wanted it more.

For me, it kinda began with inability of Fulmer to compete with the ole ball coach back in the mid-nineties culminating with the Peach Bowl no shows!

You will not hear me argue with that. Our strength is supposed to be our line and if we can't get a yard with the game literally on the line, it is a big problem. I'm not sure the execution on the field at that moment can be laid at the feet of the coaches or the program and the direction it is taking. I thought this team might win 7 games realistically, but that was before Mizzou and Auburn literally became top 10 teams. I continue to believe that CBJ will get it done at UT however. I don't think we will rock the SEC next year either though. I know we are all excited about this recruiting class but it is foolish to believe a group of freshman and first year jucos will be able to transition to the level of speed and physicality of the SEC quickly enough to make a big difference next year. The following year will be the year that we can begin to really see if CBJ is legit and will be able to do big things here. Until that time, and this is where we differ, I believe it is counter productive to be all over the coaches and staff for not meeting unrealistic expectations. Just my opinion though. :peace2:

I thought this team would win 7 games with a bowl win. It was there. UGA is worse than expected. We beat USC. Mizzou and Auburn are better than we all throught so that was a wash. It came down to the 3 cupcake OOC games, UK, Vandy, and 1 out of 4 between UGA, USC, Mizzou, and Auburn.
