I've changed my mind about

That's where you're wrong.

They could've lost last night, and he would be back. Hell, they could've lost to South Carolina in the SECT knocking them to the NIT and he would still likely be back.

Right now he's earning himself money and years, bonus, raise and extension are all coming.

Let's be honest here, Martin is NOT a complete coach, he does coach defense and toughness as good as anyone UT as ever had. The Vols get off screens very well, and play aggressive in your face defense. Iowa and Umass were obviously not used to this style, intensity, or toughness on defense.

Martin wins when the players make plays, and shots fall on offense. The sets on offense aren't very complicated when they even run sets, but most of the time it's just street ball.

I have never been to a practice, but I would love to see exactly how much time they actually spend on offense. At times this season, it has looked like they weren't even practicing offense.

Maybe, he will bring in an assistant that is as good with the offense as Martin is with the defense, and he will continue his improvement as a head coach.

But at this point, If he does get a huge raise, and I multi year extension, it's because of his defense not offense.

And defense wins championships

I do laugh at the offense comments though, not just from you, but in general. We are averaging more points than multiple teams coach by "you know who", yet many on here talk about him like he was an offensive guru. Perception.

I'll admit I have had my doubts about Martin as our coach. I was looking forward to a dominate team this year that was safely in the tourney yet we barely squeaked in. His first year was excellent when considering the expectations that team had, then 2 straight bubble teams in back to back years in which I thought we had the talent to be safely in both years had me questioning things. But looking deeper, Martin has us playing the best ball at the end of the season which is ultimately where you want it. I'll gladly take making the tourney as a bubble team if it means we're going to be playing like a top seed regardless of our current seed. Just gotta make the tourney, can't have our first half of the season spoil that for us on a yearly basis. Sure I'd like to win more during the season and be safely in, but if he can continue to make the tourney regardless of bubble or not and have his boys playing like they are right now, I can get behind that.

In General, I am not comparing Martin's teams to Pearl's. I'm simply saying Martin may be a guru on defense, but definitely not on offense. Hopefully, he will continue to grow and improve in this area.

That's can work when you have players that can make tough shots, but what about when you don't have those players or the tough shots aren't falling. Then you need an offensive system to fall back on.

It has been readily apparent to most open mined Vol fans that under Martin they play great defense at times, but their system on offense is very lacking.

This is why I believe the Vols have been so inconsistent this season. When the shots fall they usually win (Virginia) when they don't they are capable of losing to anyone (UTEP or Texas A&M).

IMHO.

We are 21-0 when scoring 71, but have lost several games holding teams to 60 or below.

I concur wining in the tournament cures a lot. The way the Vols are playing right now should be our standard, let's hope it continues.

That was the case until about 8 or 9 games ago

CCM. I have been critical of CCM and the style of play exhibited by this team but I have changed my mind. Hearing the Iowa coach speak about the class that CCM and this team showed after the game convinced me CCM is the right man for the job. I say let's give him some time to grow as a coach and the best players in the country will want to play for him. He constantly talks about representing TN is a positive light. No discipline problems since he has been here. The man is a class act with incredible character. He will recruit players with character. It's only a matter of time before he will be extremely successful. You can't do things the right way and not get good results. He has my support and he now deserves an extension. JMO!

Welcome to the club of us that hooked our wagon to him long ago. You see where the 'you know who' people are with their wagons.

I get what you are saying, but wouldn't it be more prudent to look three or four more years down the road. I'm guessing you don't think Zo can build it long term, is that it?

The combination of continual slow starts, even with this veteran team, and his recruiting makes me have great doubt about the next two to three years.

If we have a good year next year -if Stokes comes back, Josh's offense can stay like it has been in the tourney, and Hubbs lives up to his billing, we should be around 20-22 wins and looking to be in the 10 seed range - then I'll have more faith, especially if he signs some top 75 type players rather than 100 to unranked guys.

If I didn't block him, I'd bump Sparty's wonderful prediction about Mercer's score.

I said I expected them to score 60. I also said we are 21-0 when we score 71.

Only a clown would make fun of that prediction. In the middle of a great game like this to boot.

Hello clown.

And here I thought "maybe I'll give him a chance" and unblocked him, yet find a childish name calling blurt. Some things don't change.
