I've changed my mind about

CCM. I have been critical of CCM and the style of play exhibited by this team but I have changed my mind. Hearing the Iowa coach speak about the class that CCM and this team showed after the game convinced me CCM is the right man for the job. I say let's give him some time to grow as a coach and the best players in the country will want to play for him. He constantly talks about representing TN is a positive light. No discipline problems since he has been here. The man is a class act with incredible character. He will recruit players with character. It's only a matter of time before he will be extremely successful. You can't do things the right way and not get good results. He has my support and he now deserves an extension. JMO!

I'm still not sold on Martin. The Vols won last night and all is good, especially if they keep winning, but this team has been very capable of winning all season. We will see what happens next season, especially if Stokes leaves.

In this case, that could be due to a lack of a sense of humor.

Yeah. I still don't get the joke. I understand the implied humor that is usually present in a "racist IMO" post. I just don't see how it applies to the post you quoted.

Iowa's lost 6 out of their last 7 games. Five didn't make the big dance. We got matched up with a very beatable team. I'm glad we won. Let's beat UMass. And next season, let's get ranked in the top #25 (and stay there). We won't have Maymon, McRae, or Stokes...Call me a naysayer, but he's still unproven to me. Right now, he's still my favorite team's coach.

this is jmo. but with all the Pearl talk in the last month and how Im sure he knows he will never be able to win over the fan base between him and Pearl. It would not surprise me if Martin don't take another job at the end of the year. Especially if Stokes goes pro. Next year does not look too good as far as wins and losses goes and without Stokes coming back. He has a better chance in getting another job after this season is over with than he probably will next year.

You may be right, however, I think he has won over a lot of the fan base after last night. If he wins another game or two in the tourney, more fans will jump on his bandwagon. Basically, fans have had a reason to be disappointed this year and most, like myself, have just wanted to see our team play up to their ability. We're finally seeing it and who knows, they could go on a tourney run since they definitely have the talent to do so. I think a lot of us want to like CCM but have been waiting on him to give us confidence he can get the job done. Maybe, just maybe, we are getting ready to witness this.

Great post man.

Great post man.

Thanks BTO. I am so impressed by CUonzo as a person. He has kept his cool while 35,000 Bruce Pearl fans , including myself, signed a petition to bring him back. I really want him to succeed and want to like him as a coach. After last night, I realized he is still learning on the job and I think with a little more time, will become a solid coach that can win big here. At the same time, I wouldn't blame him if he told all of us to stick it after what he has endured this season. However, I'm not sure he is a spiteful person. Guess we'll find out.

The thing I see with Cuonzo he's never seemed happy here to me. Maybe it's just his demeanor but I've never gotten the feeling he's been happy here.

I just can't handle the offense, but I guess when you are lacking some players it's the norm. 50 and 60 point games are not going to cut it. Hubbs going down played a part in that. But you have Stokes who can score. Jordy and Josh can score. Barton is a PG that we needed last year when Golden was around for him to play 2. I'm just hoping for more next year with the offense, well against UMass for sure lol.

Not trying to be a smartass, but do you blame him? There's been a very vocal opposition from the very beginning.

I said the same thing. He doesn't nor has he seemed happy even in interviews. Maybe he is just private and reserved.

I think he is more reserved and less eccentric like we were used to with BP. His interview after the game, you can't tell he was relieved and it was like a giant burden was lifted. Was smiling and more friendly lol.

He had some big shoes to fill and is basically the polar opposite of Pearl. It will take time but I think he can win fans over. He's won a lot in the last day. Winning changes everything.

I understand and appreciate your take, but nothing that happen last night gave me any confidence that Martin is the right man for the job.

In fact, I felt he should have called time out with 8 seconds left in regulation to set up a play on offense. I wasn't alone either, I hade several friends that were watching text me and ask is your coach for real? Why didn't he get a timeout to set up a play? I just lmao at Martin. But, I'm extremely glad they won. GBO!

I'm glad the team got the win last night, & will be pulling for them to go as far as possible.

That being said...beating that Iowa team last night doesn't suddenly correct the issues that this coach has, IMO of course. My reservations with CCM have been due to the following:

1). The performance of this team for most of the season has been sub-par. This led to us not being as seeded as highly as we could've been, making the potential tourney run more difficult.

2). In-game coaching is questionable at times. It took the team 3/4 of the year to figure out who the first couple of guys off the bench were going to be. Timeouts have been a challenge. Last night, we have the ball with plenty enough time to get in the front court and call a timeout to set something up to win in regulation. Instead, McRae dribbles in place and then throws up a shot at the buzzer. That approach will get us beat against better opponents.

3). Recruiting. Credit where credit is due for signing Stokes and Richardson, and Moore seems to be developing nicely. I just don't understand Martin's evaluation of talent at times, & I don't have confidence that he will sign enough talent to compete with Ky and Fla going forward.

Of the above points, point #1 can be erased somewhat with a deep tourney run.
However, a deep run doesn't correct points #2 and 3.

Again, JMO, so TIFWIW.

Did you guys see him celebrating with the team after the game? It was awesome. He looked like a happy man. I believe he wants to be here. He has remained classy while a lot of fans, myself included, have said some harsh things about him. I'm starting to believe he is the right man for the long haul. On a side note, why did CBP get so much credit for wearing an orange blazer during games yet no one seems to do the same for CCM?

If you thought we would call a timeout you haven't been watching this year. Agree or disagree his philosophy is to let them play. I believe the former coach had the same philosophy.

Just my two cents. If I were a coach, I'd probably take the timeout.

I dont remember him getting alot of credit for wearing the orange blazer.Bruce did alot of things to get the fans excited....Its what he was good at......I dont really think clothing attire makes a difference one way or the other.

I saw the celebration video on utsports. Could not believe it was him.

You think we can settle up at some point?
