Probably because they are $75k and young people wants a college fund for their kids instead blowing money on their selves.

No. But I had the same opinion then. :)

I’m a Ford guy, but I love fast rides. The vette is just subpar to me. I’ve worked on them. I feel my opinion of them is valid.

I find that fascinating. I know a lot of muscle car guys who don’t like the corvette. I also know plenty of sports car fanatics who turn their noses at it.

I love the corvette, and I remember when I was a little kid in the back of my dads car, whenever a corvette would drive past is would point and shout “cool car! Cool car!”

Corvette is on my bucket list!

The Corvette is iconic. I still love the first few generations and Stingray bodies, but new ones do absolutely nothing for me.

How can you not like that?

Pretty much the same vibe I get from the guys rocking the lifted trucks and jeeps. Also the coal rollers.

I'll agree with you on the coal rollers and lifted trucks. A 3-4" lift on an old CJ is a different story though.

I am 35 and would strongly consider buying a 'Vette if I were buying a car in that price range.

It does sort of seem like an old guy car, but I think the age thing has more to with means than taste.

I agree. A lot of guys love cars and the whole midlife crisis thing is overblown. The old guys aren't out there trying to pick up chicks..... they can afford one so they buy one....

Young guys (25-35) out here who can afford a high end car either drive an Audi R-8 or Ferrari. I do see plenty of Lambos but most Vette drivers are over 50

I bought an XLR when I was about 40. Closest thing to a Vette that I'm likely to ever own. It was sweet but fragile. From here on out, I'm sticking with Jeeps (currently on #4 of my own and #6 in the family with #7 probably soon to arrive), at least until I am too old to climb up in one and then I'll go back to whatever land yacht Cadillac is putting out. Best vehicle I've ever owned 1984 CJ7 Special Edition. Best car I ever owned 2005 Deville DTS.

Name them

Not debating, just question. Are any of those Dodge Challengers faster than a Vette and within that price point? I know the Hell Cat is faster than a Vette but is about $65k base and a little over $72k in the showroom at my local Dodge dealer.

Thing is the hellcat isn’t up to the job when you introduce it to a corner.

I think most 35 YO's with the means are going to have kids, so a Vette would have to be a 3rd car, which makes it an even unlikelier purchase. They'll go for the M3 or something like that.

It does seem like the sports car in general is a thing of the past. Most of the new stuff, at least mass production new stuff, is retro like Mustang, Camaro, Challenger. In the 80s, sports cars were the thing and I think those of us who were into those cars as young adults/children still have an affinity for them but I don't see many young people driving those machines.

I'm 24 and chose the 2017 camaro ss over a stingray. Just never been a huge fan of Corvettes, always liked Mustangs and camaros more
