I'll agree with you on the coal rollers and lifted trucks. A 3-4" lift on an old CJ is a different story though.

Do you want to fight?

I’ll have ape fight you.

A small lift on a truck looks good.

Mine doesn’t roll coal but it will blow some black smoke putting the skinny peddle to the floor. But that is part of the tune.

It looks good? Maybe to you. I roll my eyes at lifted trucks. Try to look so bad ass and will probably never even see a dirt road. Just unnecessary.

Since I was a kid, I always wanted a 68 Stingray, black.

Now I own a 16 Camaro SS, guess it's my midlife crisis car, but it's fun as hell to drive.

M3, M2, Shelby GT350, 718 Cayman, and the Alfa Romeo 4C. Sure, straight line speed is best on the Corvette, but the others save for the GT350 offer a luxurious ride and agility on top of speed.

Only two are actually cheaper than the corvette. And I feel like the corvette would not have trouble dispatching that pair.

Also the 4c is anything but luxurious in its ride. Think spiritual successor to lotus Elise.

It does seem like the sports car in general is a thing of the past. Most of the new stuff, at least mass production new stuff, is retro like Mustang, Camaro, Challenger. In the 80s, sports cars were the thing and I think those of us who were into those cars as young adults/children still have an affinity for them but I don't see many young people driving those machines.

I will agree with that to a point. New sports cars are definitely an older persons game. Back in the day the Miata used to be a young persons car, when I sold them from 2014-2017, I only sold one to someone under 45. I sold about 20 of them over the years.

Not a big truck fan. I like driving them and having one but I don't think they're "cool". I went to HS in small town Utah and trucks were such a status symbol, to the point of ridiculousness. Practical trucks, FTW.

I pull trailers, goose-neck and fifth-wheel so no lift for me. Lifts screw up the the trailers pulling level plus the don't ride very well.

I agree with you to an extent. The Challenger has stayed pretty true to the muscle car model, but the Mustangs and Camaro (at least their current generations) are more sports car than muscle car.

I always thought the big lifted trucks were silly and impractical. It's more of a pain to get into, makes pulling a trailer more of a pain, and drives like it can flip over at any time when making a turn.

I guess to illustrate my point, going solely off memory I will list the production sports cars that I remember being widely available when I was in high school (not including Porsche or exotics):

Plymouth Duster/Dodge Charger
Chrysler Conquest/Mitsubishi Starion
Mitsubishi Eclipse
Nissan 300ZX
Nissan Pulsar
Pontiac Fiero
Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am
Chevrolet Camaro
Chevrolet Corvette
Mazda RX7
Subaru XT
Honda CRX
Toyota Celica
Toyota Supra
Ford Mustang
Cadillac Allante
Honda Prelude

I'm sure I am missing some, but the theme is that every manufacturer had one or more sports cars in production other than Oldsmobile and maybe Buick if you don't consider the Riviera a sports car. With a few exceptions, these cars were cheap enough that middle class parents could buy them for their teenage kids. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough but I just don't see very many of these type vehicles being offered anymore.

Keep rolling them.

Mine works. Horses, cows, trailers, etc.

It stays dirty.

Besides, fat chicks cant jump..

Cars that are too fast to open up and trucks that are way to nice to take off-road. I don't get either but to each their own.

You are correct. When my son turned 16, I was more excited about car shopping than him. We looked at a Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro and he didn't like none. He told me he would prefer a sporty 4-door car because it had more room and his friends could get out and in easier. I like to have fainted!!!!!

Maybe he has one of those exceedingly rare 16 year olds that can be trusted. I know I would have either killed someone or lost my license at 16 with a fast car. Not to mention the insurance on something like that.

Another reason, old farts buy vettes...I just looked at '17 Cadillac CTS-V, and it's used and it was $77K....for that I'll take the vette all day everyday

Yes, I am extremely fortunate in being able to trust him 100%.

Oh, sorry. I thought you said "faster."
