Maybe Bruce will take his dream job somewhere and take Steven with him.

Why does everyone hate on Bruce Pearl you hate on this guy like i dont know what. He has to play what he has. Its not Pearls fault that the 4 dummies went out for a drive at 2:am and got busted. No Stephen isnt a good player but thats all you got. At least he hustles. Tenn basketball is alot better now that Bruce is here than it was. Bruce Pearls team has finished ahead of Kentucky 4 yrs in a row so just chill the heck out people. I know it wont happen this year. But man chill

I'm not a big Steven Pearl fan, but he brings something this team needs and that is heart and hustle. He gets out there and gives everything he has to his teammates and that is something that goes beyond the box score. If guys like Woolridge step up and Tyler doesn't behave stupidly, Steven isn't seeing a ton of minutes. There was a reason D1 schools weren't all over him, but you need character guys too.

If you play D1 basketball, you should be fundamentally sound. That's on CBP.
so, judging by the way you avoided the question and just took a shot a his dad. tells me that you real problem isnt about stephens lack of fundamentals but more about his last name.

I never said he was the whole reason they lost, im sayin i think CBP could put someone more productive on the floor.

With Chism laying next to the bench with four fouls, Hall essentially missing the bus to get down to gainseville, and the situation getting so dire that Woolridge found himself getting some minutes, I don't know which more productive player was available at that moment. Defensively, this probably was the best option considering all the points they were eating up in the paint before the three pointer frenzy they went on. I will grant you that he didn't have a stellar night on defense last night, but he's been great over the past ten games or so.

Not at all. But I do feel that a coach should teach fundamentals. If there is a lack of fundamentals, which there is with this team, then that is a reflection of the coach.

I don't have anything at all against Steven Pearl, but I finally figured out last night what looks so weird or different about him, and it's that he doesn't wear any socks, or at least it doesn't look like it. Has anyone else thought this same thing?

Stephen wouldn't be playing if that great leader Tyler Smith exercised a small bit of common sense.

Well, contrary to this board's opinion, Woolridge is a much better option. When Woolridge puts up the same numbers as Steven, he gets benched. He's been in Pearl's doghouse all year and his confidence is justifiably shot.

(Here's an example: After the first Florida game, the Knoxville Journal published an article titled "Elder Pearl Proud of His Son" in which he praises Steven and says this : "For example, Renaldo (Woolridge) is Orlando’s son, and Renaldo has to continue to work to become Renaldo Woolridge—period." Now, you'd think that Woolridge had been severely outplayed by Steven, to the extent that Pearl would complain about Renaldo to the press, but the numbers say: Pearl had played 23 minutes in the previous two games, was 1 for 4, with 1 rebound; Woolridge had played 40 minutes, was 1 for 7, with 8 rebounds.)

But, failing that: a small pressing lineup would be MUCH better, with no loss in rebounding.

Really. This team can press?

With a small lineup I don't see why not. Anyhow, couldn't have been worse.

But this gets back to the oddest thing about Pearl. He pressed like mad everywhere he's ever been; he promised a "40 minutes of hell" type of approach when he was hired; he delivered on his promise while he had Buzz Peterson's kids, but HIS OWN RECRUITS can't do it. I call this poor foresight. I'm not sure he assesses high school talent all that well.

this team has no guards who can defend anything, anywhere. Can't press like that. What this team does have is length and can make it tough to score in the paint when they make the effort. In that regard, I play Swiper over Pearl and tell him his only function on earth is to defend from eight feet in and crash boards. Don't even cross half court.

Steven Pearl sucks somethin awful. i thought at one point he was just having a bad streak, but i dont think hes ever had a good streak.

Methinks it's you that sucks something. Why bash a walk-on that would SCHOOL all of you couch potatoes in a game? Wow, I'm so shocked that a walk-on isn't just amazing. At least he hustles. That is why he plays. The kids he subs for, B Williams and Woolridge, quit once things aren't going their way and they never play D. I am so sick of all of these awful 'fans'. Are you going to make me agree with Lane that UT has the worst fans anywhere? The same few who bash our own must not follow CBB enough to bash the opponents instead. You suck something, and at this point a ban is meaningless, as this whole site is full of knee-jerking football fans and high school kids that think they are knowledgeable. We all have better things to do than read yet another Steven Pearl bashing thread, I hope.

Blaming Stephen Pearl for what is happening is like getting hit by a bus and blaming your shirt for not padding the collision.

Couldn't agree more. If you want to rag on some players how about two that are on scolarships and were suppose to be high school all state players. Who told Woolridge he could play D1? Hopson disappears when a good opponent is on floor. 1 and done my :shaking2:
