Jacques Smith and family on Butch Jones approach

Sad. That's all I'll say.

I understand you're saying its sad in the context of its his 4th year and this is the first time he's experienced this.

However, my first thought was exactly the opposite. I'm stoked as hell that Butch is doing this, living and doing what he promised, taking our program in the absolutely right direction....and that Jacques is getting to experience it .... finally.

Hope Butch is exactly what Jaq needed to have a breakout Sr season! Been a big fan if Jaq's since he committed.

Me too brother. He carries himself very well, and reps UT very well. This whole team deserves to be placed on the track of success!

What up homie?

There is hope for Fade.

The past is the past. The last 5 years have been spent in the wilderness like the nation of Israel. At least it didn't last as long as them (40 years). I wish Dools well, somewhere else. Hope he learns from the experience and becomes a real football coach.

Jones is doing this thing right. Hope he and the staff are effective at the SEC level, because he is going about things right. What I want from Jacques is no excuses. Stop being a show pony and start being what your potential says you can be.

One of Smith's problems is that he has not been disciplined enough to be where he is supposed to be and allowing big plays on the edge where he gets suckered in. Maybe the new staff can motivate him to play within the system and do his assignments correctly.

Are we talking about a football coach or Pinocchio? I personally don't care one way or the other how Dooley does from here on out. He fattened his wallet quite a bit thanks to us. That should be plenty of good will. If he does succeed, good for him. If not, I'm not going to be upset. I tink the possibility should be entertained that Smith hasn't lived up to his potential because of Dooley. I really hope that is the case anyway. I'm mostly happy we seem to have a good coach on hand finally, but I don't think we are all now supposed to cheer Dooley on because he isn't here anymore. Fade said he should be able to live his life. I haven't seen anyone trying to prevent that from happening. If people still want to express their displeasure with how he handled things, I don't see why they shouldn't.

Oh, I fully agree. It's just more an indictment of how bad the program has been during his time. Jacques was arriving on campus the same time Kiffin was leaving and had to live through the Dooley years.

I can only hope and pray for him and the rest of the upperclassmen things turn around in a hurry. This article makes me optimistic.

The only sad thing is how poorly Smith has played since he's been here. You could measure his impact on the head of thimble.

CBJ and staff doing all the right things. The players and families have noticed. I hope CDD never gets another head coaching job anywhere. He doesn't deserve it. He hurt us as much as Kiffin did.

I hope Dools does get another coaching job. I would love to see him replace Nick Satan, and hire Sal ad his DC at Alabubba.

This is the first time since Fulmer was disgustingly fired that we finally have a real coach. Just glad that we can start climbing out the crap hole dug by Mr. Douche and Mr. Clueless.

I am glad to see that Jacques is at least feeling that the game is fun again to him. I hope he and the rest of the seniors can put something together this year that they can be proud of.

Those like yourself that try to advance this notion that Dooley "fattened his wallet", or somehow was selfish financially at our expense show how little they know about how the real world operates.

Dooley and Kiffin are both gone, gone, gone, give it a rest. Why let either make you a hater?

When kids feel like that, they will run through walls for their coach and do things on the field that they did not think possible to do. That will translate into winning games that are close and winning games they are not supposed to win this year. It sounds like the attitude change is bringing a sense of ownership and those guys will play because they feel they are a part of something bigger than themselves.

On point..This will be worth 2 or 3 close wins in my opinion alone

Haha! That is rich. I never said he was selfish. He took what the school gave him. I am not faulting him at all for that. I would have done the same thing. I was simply saying that the amount of money he was and still is being paid by the university should be ample good will. We don't all have to hold hands and sing him off in to the sunset. Like I said, you stated we should let him "live his life". Who on here is stopping him? This is a message board and I doubt it is one that he checks in on. People are allowed to dislike him as long as they wish, regardless of your opinion on how long that should be.

Maybe I took the "fattened his wallet" comment from you differently and incorrectly. If so, I apologize. In terms of letting him live his life, I was referring to the poster who stated that Dooley doesn't deserve another head coaching job, which I think is silly. But you are right - it's a message board and everyone is entitled to their perspective, including my perspective that they are wrong.
