While it is amusing that this is happening to Florida, in general this is kinda sad-on both sides.

I would assume that there is an entity UF is "associated" with who takes care of these things and that there are contracts involved?

Not a good look for either the school or the player here.

This was my thought too... I wonder if the kid will say much about it. Cause your right it kind of exposes both....
- the school, for promising things and can't deliver which will hurt them.
- but the player also, giving the illusion that the player only cared about money.

Very delicate situation for Florida and the commits/ signees... But at its simplest can't deliver on promises, what does that imply about them keeping other promises outside of NIL

major credibility hit for on3 then. Charging people for subscriptions to read false information

Unfortunately, the game has been tainted by NIL. Good sides to it too, but…

Leverage…with teens having the power…can’t be promising.

All the Gator fans on Twitter are pissed about the On3 report and are now encouraging people to cancel their On3 subscriptions lol.

I'm assuming this kid was an early enrollee?

The thought also crossed my mind of whether this was a Harrison Bailey type situation. Kid lit it up in high school, gets recruited heavily, and then shows up on campus and the coaches realize something is just "off"

Guess with the NIL rules, simply interrupting the money flow might be a good way to get a kid to leave-if you are willing to deal with the PR hit.

Supposedly he hasn't shown up yet. That's why all the gator fans are concerned. He's supposed to be on campus and is not.

It’s also obvious UF hasn’t figured out the NIL game relative to others.

Which is kind of amazing, given the size and wealth of Florida's alumni base. Tennessee in no way matches either, but yet Spyre is lighting it up.

I still think in the medium to long term the wealthier schools will figure it out, and NIL will serve to cement their position. It is entertaining watching the growing pains, however.

Translation:
Can’t be promising for fans looking for some sense of control they never had.

I’m all for these kids having more control and leverage.

Everyone around them, collectively making billions of dollars off of them, have had it for decades.

We’ll figure it out at some point…or maybe we won’t.

Following recruiting will be a roller coaster for us all going forward.

Same game, different rules.

Just because they may have more alumni or money or there is more potential doesn’t mean that they actually care more!

Lol…fans control? I understand that you gator fans may be feeling that way. This isn’t good for the game overall.

I’m with LW, I see no problem with the kids getting the money for jerseys, autographs, etc in that department. But I do question the people who are behind structuring these deals. I came up in the boxing business, and a lot of these NIL groups seem just as shady as anything I ever saw in the fight game. I’m looking at you Miami.
