Jaden Rashada (Florida Signee) requesting NLI release

Lol…fans control? I understand that you gator fans may be feeling that way. This isn’t good for the game overall.

It’s where the game was headed, for better or for worse.

I’m all for NIL and kids getting paid.

I’m making a concerted effort not to get caught up in recruiting, because in this new era with NIL and the portal, you’d be better off waiting to see who suits up in the fall.

Realistically
Someone upped their NIL deal last minute.
UF probably just didn't match the offer.

It's going to be happening a lot going forward.
Soon to be a very common story.

I certainly hope they implode over the next couple of years. Even when we had a better football team we still could not seem to beat them. I think this new coach is their "Butch Jones" he talks a good game but can't really coach.

Brick by Brick, or something like that.

I want to laugh about this, but unfortunately this is going to be more commonplace with a lot of schools.

Probably best for them to cut bait with this guy now. It's a no-win situation.
Yep. Our fans shouldn't crow too loudly. We've had some players reportedly use leverage of the portal to get what they wanted. Only a matter of time before a HS kid does it here, too. As for cutting bait, I posted that as well. It's already a sour situation. Better to get a fresh start for both parties IMO. With what appears to be a very involved father and now an issue with something that one can only assume is the NIL or some form of promise, when will this situation rear its head again with the kid and dad? Will the coaches be pressured to start the kid before his time? Will it be the offense they run? Where does it end? What kind of "leader" can the kid be? Will he respond poorly when the coaches have to challenge him for his performance? What will he...HE...decide is an acceptable work ethic? The list is endless. Toothpaste is out of the tube here so coaches will need to be super, super good with their evaluations of a kid and his family. Heupel appears to be fairly methodical and thorough in his "takes" both in recruiting and from the portal so I'm hopeful we won't get to experience too many of these situations.

Thing is FL won’t keep him around if he has another 6-6ish season. Maybe he gets a 3rd but that’s really it.

Hopefully they get lost in the wilderness for a dozen years or more.

The rules aren't much different, the money is just out in the open now.

During prohibition it wasn’t all that difficult to find an underground spot selling alcohol. Then alcohol became legal again.

The behavior never changed in spite of the rules changing.

No different than kids getting paid under the table when it was “illegal”.

No more accurately he’s their Derek Dooley on steroids lol as both were from LA Tech right?

While it is amusing that this is happening to Florida, in general this is kinda sad-on both sides.

I would assume that there is an entity UF is "associated" with who takes care of these things and that there are contracts involved?

Not a good look for either the school or the player here.

I agree. The player comes off looking like a gun for hire. I get that the portal allows for the same thing, but it's bad look for a HS kid to be chasing the money before he steps on campus.

At the same time, if the school and NIL can't deliver on what they promised, they deserve to have players back out, especially if they way over promised to get that recruit in the first place. When a recruit commits somewhere else and you promise them the moon to flip their commitment, you better deliver on that promise.
