The whole thing is weird, honestly. It seems fine for my friends and I to make fun of each other with gay jokes, because we know each other. It seems fine for us to laugh at Tebow and Joiner kissing each other, because it's just in the house here and nobody really thinks anything about it. But once you bring the internet into it, and it starts being a region-wide joke, then honestly, at that point it stops being very funny if you've ever cared about anybody who's dealt with whether to come out or not. Something about it being public makes it just tiresome and predictable rather than funny.

Well I understand. I haven't made any jokes on it here about Tebow, just called my boss it once or twice. :) But my thing is, people are getting way too cranky about it when its meant to be a joke, and if you don't take it as a joke anymore, move on, no need to keep on commenting about your dislike for it as it will probably never stop while he is in school at Florida. It has nothing to do about cruelty towards the gay population, nothing to do with jealousy towards the players, its simply a joke to that person.

Of course. All I originally said was that it was a slam dunk that we'd hear about it for the rest of Tebow's career. I wasn't the one who was offended by it to begin with; go back and read the thread.

no I know you weren't, which is why I asked why you were defending yourself, let those people who are complaining it get over being a grouch. So how about you go back and read it. :p

Eh, cause I think that complaining about it isn't entirely useless. Maybe I'm just an old guy (37), but in my day it was still enough of a burning issue that just saying "gay jokes are simply gay jokes" is glossing over a hell of a lot of pain for some people. Between us, my wife and I had about five or six friends for whom dealing with their homosexuality was the worst and biggest issue of their lives. Maybe kids these days come out in middle school, and therefore gay jokes can simply be innocent gay jokes, but in my pre-"Will and Grace" day there was a whole political thing to deal with. And which 20 years later still colors my perception of easy, public "Tebow is gay" jokes.

See thats the difference between my day and your day. guys were coming out in middle school in my day and in high school. to me its not that big of a deal, although I would never say it to someone who is gay. I just don't think its something to get so upity about when we are calling Tebow Gay, like I said it has nothing to do with gay people or hurting people, jealousy with Tebow, its just a simple joke to make about him. Lets face it, we won't be able to find a joke about him and bad plays(well on a rare occasion), or with the hot ladies he is around. When you hate someone so much, sometimes you have to nitpick just to find something to pick on him about, even if its not so nice or something people may not like

Again, I don't disagree with you. But just watch somebody make the same jokes on TV or in a newspaper column and you'll see how much of an anachronism gay jokes are.
