Jalen Hurd potential

Most do not realize he jump cut and lateral movement abilities. Most people do not realize how low he can get and his hip strength. Typically, guys his size can't do these things - it's understandable. Yet, he's not everyone. Most people don't shatter multiple state records either. It's just a situation where he's unique and most people won't believe it until they see it.

And I can't wait to see him do it in orange!

74, you may need to pump the brakes I am as pumped for hurd as I was CP (thanks oci). Needless to say that one worked out brilliantly, I just normally don't have those type of expectations for newcomers, especially freshmen.

I agree. He would really thrive in a offense that uses the I or offset I often.

I agree with this... I believe he is used to a conventional I formation offense with the QB under center and a lead blocker.

Question will be if CBJ adjusts some of his offense to suit what Hurd's comfortable with or if CBJ will expect Hurd to run it out of his shotgun snap read/option. Maybe a little of both, who knows. Either way I believe Hurd will do just fine.

About the best RB in this years class goes to TE in CBJ'S System where the TE is hardly ever utilized in the passing game. Oh I forgot my favorite play in little league he will run, "The end and around."

The TE was a major factor in Jones's system at Cincy. Unfortunately we had no servicable tight ends this season.

I don't mind criticism my man. Have had it my whole life and been told I am to small to play. It's not a big deal. I just misread you when I thought you were callin me a clown. My apologies on that. Believe me, I do not mind criticism. When your in a stadium of 90 something thousand people and the fans r calling you the n word, and every name in the book and flicking you off, spitting on you, and throwing stuff at you, and degrading you and your family, you ignore it. It goes out your ears and you go out there and shred them for over 200 yards. It's what every athlete loves to hear. So I don't mind criticism. Ha.

U didn't misread it when he called u a clown...he was calling u a clown. He backtracked when he found out who u were. U got hammered for having a none sunshine pumping opinion by the usual suspects.

Anyway...to a question I'm surprised no one asked...so is any of ur "hurd" looking like they may fill out the O&W (hopefully not gray) like u did one day??? Just wondering...

I missed you :)...was going to commend you for your bravery on calling AJ Johnson a phony for daring to eat with a homeless person...I know you're tired from your night out looting Whoville so I'll let you rest...VFL34 and I are cool he doesn't need your selective brand of interpretation

I guess you do not read my post. Good kid, know him very well. I guess you know why he left MBA before going to BHS? I guess you know why he left Goodpasture before going to MBA? I know the kid. He did bust his rear last year when the team was winning, never said he didnt, but when he was hurt and could not play anymore he was not there to try to encourage his team. I have known his family since he was in the 3rd grade and I really do hope he does well. I am not just a Bama fan, I care about what happens to my kids friends. I really think he will be used as a DB before he plays RB. He played the DB very well and with his size/speed would make a great defensive player.

#5 RB in the country logging in as a DB before RB. Sounds legit. Sweet logic you have there chief.

There jave been some great freshman rbs inbthe SEC. Hopefully we can stretch the field with the passing game and give him some lanes.

Over and under he gets placed at tightend?

Why in the world would you ask this question? He's a big kid and an elite athlete who was recognized as one of the best high school players in the country because of his performance.....at running back

UT has a glaring need at a certain skill position.....running back. UT's leading rusher from last year is graduating and the only other RB on the entire roster is Marlin Lane, an injury-probe, somewhat enigmatic and unreliable player throughout his UT career at this point. The only other RB has verbally committed is Treyvon Paulk, an all purpose back coming off a torn ACL.

Hurd is an elite running back.....UT is in dire need of an elite running back. Why in the world, especially since he committed to UT on the promise he would play RB, would we now move Hurd to another position?

Not saying he's elite, but isn't Pickett (sp) still coming in this year. I have no idea how much, if any, impact he may have. But, hopefully he can at least contribute and supply some depth. With a little luck, maybe a change of scenery does the young man some good...we could use all of the luck and help we can get.

It's like a police interrogation.....they ask the same question over and over in the hope that we get tired and answer differently

They're killing me Butch. Why can't we just let well enough alone and let this kid help our beloved Vols win by playing the one position where we need him the most.....??

Every ranking service and talent evaluator with any credibility including all the schools who recruited for his services against us at all has Jalen Hurd as one of the top RBs in the nation ... except some folks on VN who just can't see it. To those I say, go back to your vocations of flipping burgers and changing oil in service bay 2 and leave this to the professionals .. quit embarrassing yourselves.

This ^^

I mean wake up, tonight I watched a guy from PITT who is 6'2 230 just break Dorsett's record in tonight's bowl game. That guy is one inch shorter than Hurd but a ****e ton less talented. A segment of you people remind me of Randy Quaid and his goofy friends in the movie Major League.
