On ESPN First Take. Saying that he thinks three of the four #1 seeds in the tourny is Kensucky, Kansas and Syracuse and the fourth spot is up for grabs. He was throwing around names like Duke, Kansas St. and said dont count out the Tennessee Vols, Bruce Pearl has them playing outstanding basketball, especially at home! Not bad props from the former Fab Five memeber!!

I dont think we are a #1 but depending on what happens in the SEC tourny I think we are a #2 or #3. Dont think thats laughable at all.

The only way that could possibly happen is if we beat MSU and then won the SEC tourney.

+1 We would have to win out and unfortunately I just don't see this team playing that hard for that many games in a row.

Not saying, just saying.

ncaa not played in Tommy Bowl unfortunately...

Just like their not playing at Rupp either. Ky got alot of talent but coach Cal has had more talent before and didnt win it all. That Memphis talent with Dorsey,Rose,Roberts, and more had alot

What do you mean by, "what happens in the SEC tournament?" We all know how Pearl's teams play when it comes to tournament time.

Those Memphis teams were talented and experienced. They just took some bad shots and couldn't hit free throws. Patterson is the only "veteran" on UK's team. I am not saying they can't get to the championship but their inexperience will be tested.

If this team were to get a 2-3 seed, it would be much like Pearl's first UT team - not 2-3 seed talent, but we'd have the credentials to back it up.

If we run the table and win the SEC tourney by going through Kentucky, we get #2 seed at best

I see this team as having a shot at a 3 seed, but that's the most I can give them...and the only way it happens is if they go on a tear over the next several games.

Agreed. Were a 4/5 right now IMO (and more important ppl's too) Say we win at Ms St, then win two games in the tourney, a 3 isn't a stretch at all. Win the SECT and a 2 isn't a stretch. Well see. Ill be happy with 4 or better.

I agree. Those are my feelings too. I think 3 is as high as we could get.

If we win the SEC tournament - beating UK, and Vanderbilt - then even under the most favorable circumstances we might have an outside shot at a 2. But most likely a 3. If we beat LSU and Ole Miss/Ark but lose to UK, then I think we get a 4. If you look at some teams that are slated above us right now, some of them are bound to fall... Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Purdue. Someone's got to lose. Same with Georgetown, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh. If we take care of business, we are bound to jump some of them. Which would leave us with at least a 4 seed. I'm really hoping for a 3, so we wouldn't have to play a 1 seed before the elite 8, but I think it's probably unlikely.

lmao we are not gonna get a #1 seed. We will be lucky to get a 4 seed.

I love ya' automatically bcuz you're a UT fan, but COME ON!!! Check my resume already!

We are right now a 3 seed and it isn't just a at home thing!

-We beat Kentucky and Kansas!

-While most people say there are no good losses, good losses are a factor in the committe room. We lost to Purdue, who before losing Hummel was another projected #1 seed by one friggin' point on a nuetral site!

-The worst losses you can have are at home and we only have one of those

-We have two strong road non-conference wins at Memphis and at MTSU, who very well could be headed to the tournament

-Throw in a down ACC and down PAC10 and I don't think they stuff that many Big East teams ahead of us.

Simply compare us to Duke who before last night was considered a #1 seed!

-Duke has no substantial non-conference or for that matter in-conference road win all season!

-Their two best home wins this season are Connecticut and Gonzaga compared to Kansas and Kentucky!

-There is only one other ACC team in the top25 (22) and they just lost to them when they need some type of substantial road win!

This is a good post, and makes me wonder why there is near unanimous thought about us as really no better than a 4/5. Though Duke does have the #2 RPI, which historically has factored in pretty heavily with seeding. But case-by-case, you make interesting points.

Thanks! I'm wary about that RPI, bcuz they use it as high criteria when they want to, but remember last year we had a very high RPI (i think no.2) and Bruce threw that out to all day long, but we still got an eight seed!
I think if the tables were turned and we could switch results with Duke there would be a whole lot of people clamoring that Duke is a 2 seed at worst than they will for us. I'm not saying that is what we are, but I can't believe we'd be LUCKY to be a 4 seed.

Our rpi isn't as high this year as it has been in the past. We also don't have as many quality wins. A four seed would be a great get. Five seeds get upset so often.
