Jalen Rose giving the VOLS some love...

I hope Jalen Rose had a non-sequitur in between saying the final #1 seed was up for grabs and "don't count out Tennessee" (in terms of making a run in the tourney). Because I fail to see how it's mathematically possible for Tennessee to earn a #1 seed - they'd have to somehow beat both Vandy and Kentucky in the SEC Tourney, b/c nobody else in the conference has the stature to warrant such a leap.

How does Duke have the #2 RPI?? They have played 6 games out of 30 against teams currently in the CNN top 40 and went 3-3. They have ACC losses against GT (19-10) and NCST (14-18). Someone please tell me how that body of work equates to the #2 RPI.

as much as they harp on the RPI, as Vol fans, we should know this doesn't matter a whole lot

We're at 16 in the RPI right now, which would be the last of the 4 seeds. If we beat MSU and run the SEC Tournament, we'd probably move up to a 2. I really don't know if I want to see that happen, though. To win the SECT, we'd have to win four games in four days. Most teams that do that end up blowing it in the first weekend of the NCAAs.

Yeah, I was bummed about that too. The committee justified it by saying the SEC was awful last year... We didn't help matters by losing in SEC Title game.
Losing in the SEC title game to an inferior opponent that the selection committee never would have chosen otherwise.

#4. Duke 25-4 1,415
#5. Kansas State 24-4 1,377
#7. Purdue 24-4 1,169
#9. Villanova 23-5 1,143

No way IMO we can get a number 1 seed, beating out these teams above, one of these four teams are going to get the last number one seed JMO tho! We can get a number two seed at best IMO and thats if we get to the champ. game in the SEC tournament! And win! If we don't win im thinking we will be a 3-4 seed!

Tell Billy Donovan that.

IF we were to win out (big if) and Kstate, Purdue, OH st, Duke struggle in their conf tourneys lose before semifinal round, THEN we could definately be a 1 seed.

We got punished for losing that game. I guess it could go either way, but I think actually WINNING the SEC tourney would be a good thing.

+1 We would have to win out and unfortunately I just don't see this team playing that hard for that many games in a row.

Not saying, just saying.

What the heck does that mean??? I see "just saying" and wonder what the heck that really means but, man, "not saying, just saying"??? Guess it's a generational thing!?!

Pearl's first team also didn't have 20 point losses to USC and UGA on it's resume either. It may have had 8 losses, but I think the worst one was to SC in the SEC tournament.

Tennessee will NOT be a 1 or 2.

If they win out......maybe a 3.

Win Saturday, win 2 games in Nashville. That gets you into contention for a 4. At this point, I'd rather hit the NCAAs with a rested Chism down low at a 4 than a banged up Chism with a 3.

If we cant get a 2 or 3 seed then I want a 6 seed. Honestly, Kansas and Kentucky will be out for blood and Syracuse would destroy us. The only way I would be okay with a 4 or 5 seed is if our 1 seed isn't one of those 3 teams. With a 2, 3, or 6 seed we wouldn't see a 1 seed until the elite 8 which would be very beneficial to us.

I think a 1 seed is out of the question, but if we win out (including the tourney), I seriously think we could get a 3 seed if the chips fell in our favor...especially if we beat UK again. I think Syracuse, Kansas, and Kentucky are pretty much locks for a 1 seed. I could see someone like Ohio State sneaking in and taking the final 1 seed, especially considering that Duke went down to Maryland last night. Then we have teams like Nova, KState, and Purdue fighting for the 2 seed spots. It's a long shot, but I don't think it's out of the question.

I don't think we can get a one seed but if we beat Kentucky and Vandy in the tourney and win it we could make a push and get a 2 seed.

I like the enthusiasm. I also like the idea of having the focus of the seniors which could lead to some overachieving.

Assuming we loose at MSU and win two in SEC we are 6 at best. We have no quality away wins.

Our road/neutral record is pretty mediocre (around 7-6 I think). If we can beat Miss St. and win 3 games in SEC tourney to get it to 10-7, then I think that we can get to a 4 seed. Otherwise, I'm thinking 5/6.

Hey how have ya been. I think it's more of a regional thing. You have to know what they mean, know what I mean?
