I now am a huge fan of Chad Withrow (Midday 180 on 104.5 The Zone)...

Slamming James Franklin for the Josh Dawson comments, bringing up Patton Robinette and other guys he picked up because of decommitments.

Franklin's a motormouth, but that's why they hired the guy. They're going with Controversial Head Coaching Template #4910 in their millionth rebuilding effort.

But I think I saw the friendly nickname Otha Peckers in some thread here at some point? Yeah, we aren't so good to our shipjumpers either.

We as fans on an anonymous board aren't good to shipjumpers, but Frankin is a Head Coach. He is also a head coach that got players that jumped ship from other programs. If he is going to B**th about it, he needs to not accept players that were ever committed to other programs.

Franklin also stated how nationwide his recruiting was. Said "we got a kid from Indiana, a kid from California, we get them from all over the place". I don't think they signed anyone outside the southeast - maybe one from Texas. This guy just runs his mouth.

The difference is, no one on this board has a voice or an audience or a position of authority. That and our opinions are irrelevant when it comes to recruiting, but it's not really kosher for a coach to say something like that. Franklin will eventually learn the hard way (probably after it's too late) that you can't do stuff like that.

Franklin says that those kids are not men of honor and integrity...as if trashing them makes him a man of honor and integrity. It doesn't.

Fedora's comments are right on point, too, and unfortunately, so are Kiffin's.

Franklin is Lane Kiffin-lite. Hell, ultra-lite. The job he's done at Vandy, as far as W-L's, is pretty decent. Taking a team with 4(?) wins over the last two years to a bowl game is nothing to bat an eye at but he and people in the media act like he's the next best thing since Nick Saban....

If anything, he's the next best thing since Trooper Taylor. He's TT minus the chest bumping but throw in a bunch of tears and b*tching and moaning.

Clay Travis likes make the point out that b/c UT fans talk about Franklin and UT so much it could only mean that Vandy has ascended to the top while UT has fallen from grace...BS. Its the same damn thing that happened when Kiffin came here; UT had fallen out of the spotlight until we hired a coach that would do and say anything to get a soundbite on ESPN...especially if it meant taking a shot a Urban Meyer.....and it worked.

Franklin is one thing...smart. He's ran his damn mouth so much that everyone has taken notice and has fooled people into thinking that Vanderbilt is somehow relevant. Yes, they played UF & UGA well and beat the crap out of Wake Forrest.....what's new? They've always played UF & UGA pretty close....and they've always lost.

...beating Wake is like beating.........Wake Forrest. Who cares?

I'll give Franklin this much, he's done a damn good job with the media and has exposed VU to media outlets that would normally not give them a first look...so kudos. I guess that means Vandy will start competing for the SEC East this year.
