James Madison, Toledo and SMU - AP Poll

Optic wise, we look like a different team since the Mizzou game. Two beatdowns and allowing 24 points to Vandy. Our defense looks exposed and Offense is too inconsistent against good opponents.

With that said, I'm not sure any team from ranking #17 to #25 would be favored against us. In fact, I think we dominate a few of the games. Some of those teams I can't take seriously.

Pollsters have always had a bias for teams that don't have many losses against weak schedules.

Auburn is ranked higher in most of the quant polls than James Madison and I think that's correct. JMU would have least several games in the SEC and would struggle to get over .500. And Liberty has played no one --- their best win is against a team rated #91 by Sagarin (Bowling Green).

What a joke. Ga struggled with GT, FSU struggled with UF and Bama struggled with Auburn and remain in their spots, yet we have a dominate win and drop 5 spots?

Tennessee was #25 in the AP Poll last week. They only dropped one spot.

They were #20 in the CFP rankings.

The AP Poll has gone WOKE and they realize they don't matter anymore because the CFPoll. So, they make the schools from smaller conference basically a participation ranking to be inclusive because who's to say if James Madison played in the SEC they wouldn't have the same record. Thats their argument. Not a big deal, makes the students from these G5 and smaller schools feel-good.

two of those teams went undefeated in their conference and only have 3 losses collectively. the other only has one loss and it was on a last second play. So ummm,, combined, they have the same amount of losses that we do.
So they’re like the tallest midgets? They have better records in inferior conferences.

Most reasonable post I've seen in the thread.

Just back to the SEC cellar with the Heupel regime. Ending the season unranked is going to hurt recruiting.
your screen name tells us exactly how you feel and your remarkable assessments and educated opinions. Thank goodness for an ignore/block user.

3 of the 4 losses were to top 10 ranked teams and an L to the gators in the swamp. 3 of the 4 losses were away games. Yes 4 losses blow but I think I read somewhere that this team is still only made up of 40% to 60% of CJH players. The negativity is in full force.

Why? Coaches have zero time to watch games outside of teams they play. Meanwhile the AP watches lots of games.
You give the AP voters too much credit. You think Joe Shmo from the Albuquerque Daily Bugle has watched every Toledo game this year and analyzed their performance? The local beat writers getting AP and Heisman ballots is an anachronism that produces results you can’t take seriously. They glance at records and hear sound bites, fill out their ballots and move on

Yea you’re probably right, we are gonna lose every recruit we have. Recruits look at the rankings at the end of the year, then decide whether or not to decommit. Say it ain’t so Heupel. Loservol, ultimate troll.

Is what it is. You know how the polls work. We don’t deserve to be top 25
If Oregon State at 8-4 deserves to be at #20, then the Vols most definitely do. It’s a joke to have an 8-4 Oregon State at #20 and dropping the Vols after they win in blow out fashion. They have losses to Washington, Arizona, Washington State and Oregon.

It’s a blow out vs a two win Vandy

Missed covering by 3 points. If we played the starters the entire game they more than cover. After Nico went in the game calling got ultra conservative.
2-9 Vandy had to play with their backup QB the 4th Q. Even with Tenns backups they shouldn't have scored.

We only have one bad loss to Florida. The other three were to top 10 ranked teams. Who beat the other guys that passed us up?

JMU, Toledo & SMU will all get TCU'd in a big time Bowl game. If any have upset a too quality team or blue blood? I don't track lower tier teams.

They shouldn't be ranked until they win a bowl game and then into the top 25. No victory is over a team that is competitive in the top 25.
