it was. but I meant the team as a whole. Noel wasn't the only one giving us problems..

Anytime a team is without their best player it obviously hurts them. Add in that Noel's length and shot blocking ability makes it hard for our best weapon to score...and yes, we'd benefit from his absence.

do you guys think he would be better off against Kentucky with Nerlens Noel injured??

Stokes should be able to handle Stein pretty easily down low. He has size but he's raw and commits more silly fouls than regular post players. Wiltjer is the one I worry about. Hall being out on the 3 point line is dangerous.

looks like Noel has a torn ACL and is going to be out for the rest of the season. as much as I HATE Kentucky, I hate to see that happen to anybody-especially somebody as talented as he is!!:no:

Wiltjer is a bad matchup for us. Kenny doesn't wanna play him outside, but Reese and Edwards can't handle him inside. He single handily beat us last game.

Very sad to see, scary thought is what if he decides to return next year?!?!

Well if we apply some posters' logic, UK should be just as good without their best player and not struggle at all.

how do you know what Martin says to stokes about rebounding? I mean the guy is averaging close to 10 boards on the year and definitely in SEC play.

yeah, he struggles finishing but he has bad touch around the rim and that is something you practice, not verbally berate him about.

if you have been watching, you can see that stokes has been better about finishing around the rim and with contact. that is a result of practice and development. if anything, Martin has done a great job with stokes compared to pre-sec play.

Well, if you read I clearly stated I do watch every game, but seams like you and a lot of VOL fans here settle for mediocrity. Stokes takes plays off. He's lazy, and could easily score 20 a game if he wanted to. What's the excuse for him now?

that's what I was thinking!! but seeing how they are supposed to have one of the best recruiting classes next year, that would subtract one of their starting freshmen

Their class next year is lacking a dominate big. If Noel stayed (i don't think he will), Kentucky could legitimately have 3 of the top 5 picks in the NBA draft playing for them next year.

I honestly don't think he would stay either. that just means that Coach Cal actually has to COACH the team from this point instead of just relying on their talent

Honestly if they get all the players they are suppose to and Noel comes back I won't watch college basketball and I'm serious. Lol. I'll cheer for UT and all that. But the talk of UK will flood college basketball.
