My degree is in advertising and I never got into advertising. It's about work ethic, responsibility and networking along with a degree.

So true, Sparty. My degree is in psychology and I'm in biotech sales. If you can combine a degree with the ability to communicate effectively and have good people skills then you can be a success in whatever field you choose imo.

Agree. Most people could probably do fine without a degree and the student loan debt associated with one. It's more about those other things you mentioned. Of course if you're practicing brain surgery or designing bridges a degree would probably help.

Notice how the media has the headline
JARON TONEY LEAVING FOOTBALL PROGRAM
and in teeny tiny letters in the article it says he graduated. Typical!

Jaron and his father did some stone work on my dad's house a couple of years ago. You'll never meet a harder worker or a nicer guy. (Both men.)

Wish him nothing but the best!

The kid did it the hard way. He walked on and earned a spot and a lot of playing time. His first game was MTSU where he ran harder than anyone else that day. Best to you Jaron.

Congratulations to him getting his degree, but I would say it's safe to assume that his work put in on the football team and his ability to balance football with academics will be much more beneficial to him finding a job than his arts and sciences degree.

Not knocking the guy by any means, but just curious what kind of job prospects there are for someone graduating with this type of degree these days?

How about sales where he can write himself a six figure pay check?

Now days a lot of companies do not care what your degree is for as long as you have one. Heck I have 3 friends that got jobs over prob more qualified people just for saying they attended college. One of them only went a week. Put that with being able to say you played for the Vols and I say he will be alright, especially if the owner or boss is a UT fan. I think that's why a lot of former players stick around or come back.

Good Luck JT!

It's really cool that this kid had his stuff in line to graduate before transferring. Helps us with APR. Glad to see Butch is guiding these kids down the right path.

Good luck in your career outside of football. Survival of the fittest in Vol Land. Soon a football scholarship may actually be in high demand at UT again.

It was a cheap shot and you know it. Just thought it was punkish. That being said, my reply was probably too harsh. Lets call it even.

I'll admit it... My comment was too mean spirited. It didn't seem that way when I originally typed it. But having reviewed it, I have something to say. Jaron if you read this thread I want to tell you I'm sorry. You were my favorite walk on rb/wr/db I can remember, and the truth is, I'm just a little angry at you for leaving. I think that's why I dissed you initially.
