Ridiculously stupid post. I graduated last year with an arts and sciences degree and am now in med school. Do you have any idea how many majors at UT fall under that college?

EDIT: Specifically my major was Microbiology

I also have my degree in microbiology and now I'm a corporate executive at an electronics retailer. I also played football. Having the experience with the arts and science degree is beneficial.

Congrats JaRon, VFL, make Momma Proud!

Being a Senior, I guess we don't get any extra scholarship opening up though.

It doesn't get much better than a local kid getting a chance as a walk-on and working his way to starter and getting his degree in the process. Talk about living the dream and representing not just our home state but our university's backyard and doing it with style and grace.

Congratulations to him getting his degree, but I would say it's safe to assume that his work put in on the football team and his ability to balance football with academics will be much more beneficial to him finding a job than his arts and sciences degree.

Not knocking the guy by any means, but just curious what kind of job prospects there are for someone graduating with this type of degree these days?

He could do what I did got a degree just to shut my family up. Then started my own company! Lol

Also it looks like a longsnapper and punter are moving on. Will this open up some scholarships? I guess I could look it up but hoping someone knows off the top of their head

Jaron and his father did some stone work on my dad's house a couple of years ago. You'll never meet a harder worker or a nicer guy. (Both men.)

Wish him nothing but the best!

Sounds like a well rounded person with a good work ethic...solid parenting

I always rooted for him. Guy was moved a bunch and always seemed to play hard. Wish the best for him.

While some degrees are more valuable than others, I'm not going to knock a man for completing any degree. There's no telling what his plans are, and a degree shows dedication. Most graduates step outside of their major in terms of careers.
