Jason Allen is doing awsome at the scouting combine. He has been in the top 5 in just about every single drill. He ran a 4.39 in the fourty. He blew everyone away at the short shuttle with a 3.81 the closest person to him was a 4.00. Mike Mayock said last night if it weren't for the hip he would be the top corner in the draft.

Man, I didn't realize he was that fast. Good for him, I hope he makes big bucks after what he gave to this program.

Me neither . . . a 4.39 40 isn't playing around.

He may have just moved his way into the first round by the way everyone is talking. Alot of it will depend on how his pro day goes on campus

It's a lot easier to run that time when you see dollar signs.

I'm sure he's been rehabbing and working out nonstop also.

I'm glad to see the man should be able to put himself back in the first round. Wasn't he projected as a first rounder last year when he decided to stay? JA is certainly a team player, and we would be in a world of hurt in the secondary if he hadn't stayed around last year to help those guys get better.

First time I noticed Allen for real was when he chased a guy down from behind (who had about a 15yard head start) grabbed his jersey, and began trying to strip the ball. Allen held him with one hand with the guy trying as hard as he could to get away.

You could always count on him to run across the field from God-knows-where and stop a potential big play.

dude get over yourself...he's a good player, what makes you think he is playing for money when he came back for his senior season when we could have gone in late 1st early 2nd and made plenty of money

JA is not only a great palyer but a great person as well. I had the chance to meet him once at Buffulo Wild Wings on the strip. I saw him there and even though I didn't want to bother him I still had to tell him I thought he was a great player and it said alot about him that he came back. Not only did he shake my hand and say thanks, he talked to me for at least five minutes about the upcoming season(this was in March 05) and how he was recruited.. just footbal in general. I couldn't believe someone of his status was being so friendly since I met so many prima donnas from the football team while I attended UT.
Allen is the protypical corner for the NFL these days. Big, strong, fast...as good against the run as he is in pass coverage. I think we're looking at a future pro bowler. The best DB in college before his injury and still a first rounder unless 32 NFL teams have no sense at all.

You're correct. However, anyone who thinks money isn't a good motivator is delusional. Do you think Allen would have rehabbed if the NFL payed $12 an hour? Get real.

That doesn't mean that $$$ is his only motivation, like you implied. The guy could have gone a year early, but didn't... that shows his moxie, no matter how you try and spin it.

Do you think he would have come back for his senior season if money was the only issue?

Hmmm...spoken by a man whose never had a serious injury and listened to doctors tell you that you'll never recover. Thank you very much for your uniformed opinion. :bad:

Be very careful in who you call out, it makes you look stupid. I dislocated an ankle my junior year in high school, then came back to make the all state baseball team my senior year. Jumping to conclusions just shows how uninformed and clueless you are. You hide behind the internet and blather. Yeah, your opinion matters to me.

Never said it was his only motivation. I'm simply making the point that a lot of guys run their lifetime bests at the combine. I've got to think money is a large part of that equation.

Many guys fall apart too... Check Calhoun's 40... the RB from Wisconsin.

Agreed. Some guys don't respond well to the moment.

I think the competition is more of a motivator than the money. These guys were not thinking money when they started playing sports, they were in it for the competition. I think this drives them to beat their opponent. However, the money is a nice reward for winning and that's not always a bad thing.
