I don't think the money made him faster on the day of the Combine, but it definitely motivated him to work and rehab in order to be as fast as he could possibly be on that day.

I don't disagree with that and I'm sure it motivated him to work hard to get back. I'm just saying that I think motivation and adrenaline are different.

But that's not the only thing that stimulates it. So how do you know that money is what made Allen run so fast? Like I asked before, did you talk to him about it or did you see dollar bills form a cyclone around him and motivate him to the finish line?
Do you have to talk to someone to make rational assumptions about their motivations? If you see someone eating, I think it's reasonable to figure they're motivated by hunger.

What is this Dr. Phil? My analysis is . . . He clocked a good time. Who cares what his motivation was?

I don't really care what his motivation is, I just think it's silly that money could be the only reason he ran that quick. Just throw out the training and the natural ability and the work ethic. Why imply that if it wasn't for the money, he'd be running Maurice Clarrett's time.

No, but it would be the wise thing to do. No sense in labeling him as some money hungry guy who is just doing stuff for that one reason.

Frankly, I hate it when people make assumptions without knowing the person. You never know the reason behind anything or what's really going on. Someone could also be eating because they have low blood sugar.

1. There is a well established scientific principle that states all things being equal, the simplest explanation is the correct one.
2. For the 8,000th time in this thread, I never labeled Jason Allen money hungry or stated that money is his only motivation. If you're going to debate the validity of my posts, at least read them.

Why would I have to do that? I was just going off of the well established scientific principle that states all things being equal, the simplest explanation is the correct one.

Touche'. I'm just glad, at the end of the day, that his hip injury hasn't "costed" Jason too much money.

Hip injuries can be tricky, but he is doing pretty well so far. I guess the main concern would be contact with the hip. He didn't break anything did he? It just popped out?

I think you mean "is usually the correct one"

No. The "all things being equal clause" accounts for variances from the norm that will result in the simplest explanation not being the correct one.

Genarally , in the real world all things being equal is a rare occasion, applying cold science to a situation that involves emotions and human responses rarely equals the simplest explanation.

No . . . but it does serve as a nice light at the end of a tunnel; especially when you're hurt.

I think Dr. Youman's puts droid parts from Terminator into the kids that go through his rehab. Jamal Lewis and Al Wilson bounced back better than before because they have artificial droid tissue. JA's running a fast 40 had a little to do with $$$, more to do with impressing the "eyes" upon him, and mostly because of his new Terminator hip.

Yeah, but people who smoke are probably not motivated by death.

I remember watching the replay of that injury and thinking he might be finished. I can't say how happy I am that he's back and doesn't seem to be to hampered from it.

Agreed . . . I was at the game where he went down. I felt sick watching him lay there and thinking about how much it may have cost him. I'm really happy for him.
