Jason Witten

D-B didn't seem so hot at the beginning of the year. But looking back, the Tribe lost by one score to some really good teams. Those losses also came before our new running back emerged. His name is Chris Sensabaugh, brother of Jacksonville Jaguar Gerald Sensabaugh. Maybe Chris will get the UT scholarship that should have been offered to his older brother.

he better get it soon...he has failed twice and is already 16 or 17 yrs old

If I am not mistaken Jason held some sort of weekend camp over the summer in Carter County open to all highschool football players to give them pointers.

Phillips is good. He never did beat D-B, though. Neither did Jason Witten.

Too bad South dropped DB from their schedule this year. I believe the Rebs would put an old fashion Smack Down on the Tribe this year! JMHO:rock:

He does it every year at Dave Rider field. This year's was filmed and is shown on the United Way commercial. He always brings Cowboy teammates with him. Steve Grindstaff pays the way of every kid that wants to participate.

Hats off to Steve Grindstaff for doing that!:eek:k:...We need more generous business leaders in the area!:clapping:

Anybody from Elizabethton ever met Johnny Mills. I've always wanted to meet the guy but have never gotten around to it. Seems like a great guy. My grandfather lives in Elizabethton and knows him, but everytime I make it over there I'm always too busy. I think he owns some kind of business in Elizabethton if I'm not mistaken

last christmas. i was in town (kingsport) and gave him a call about coming to ETOWN for a visit. brought a couple of old ut books which he was gracious enough to sign. spent about an hour talking ut football. really nice guy and his wife was also very nice.

if you are in town i recommend you call and go by. here is the info:

I played hs football with Jason when I was in HS. I never saw the guy drink one beer while I was there. He would stay after practice everyday and him and another good player on the team would do a million sprints. Some of the best memories of my life.

ok. Like i say, I know South would only play later in the season, and DB would only take on South as the first game. I think South could've taken them this year.. This was my first time seeing South, but i've seen DB twice so far.

Btw, I'm still trying to find a Musket Bowl score... anyone know how my Trailblazers came out? According to a guy from AM 910, it was a magnificent 5-0 game at one point in favor of Daniel Boone.

South would not have beat DB. Remeber 2006? South was supposed to win thst game. Speed kills and South don't have it. Leave it to a South to speculate what "would" have happened. By the way, South is the school that called and axed the JV and freshman games right after that beat down in 2006. So just don't even speculate because it would have been the same outcome in 2007. If you are so sure of South call and convince them to play DB again; after all it South that wanted to end it all even though both schools made bank at the gate. I guess it is better for South to lose the gate money and talk about how they could beat DB instead of really playing them.

did you really pull up an over month old dead thread just to say that?

and DB wouldn't play later in the season. That's why they didn't play this year. No one cares about what happened in 2006. You DB/Kingsport alums have no ability to see reality. DB was not good this year. Not at all. I figured the playoffs showed that, but evidently not.

If you use that logic.....then since Florida beat Tennessee bad this year, then it will happen again next year....I go to South, and do believe that the Rebels would be very cabable to beat DB this year, but we didn't play. btw QUIT REVIVING OLD THREADS SO YOU CAN SHARE YOUR NARROW MINDED OPINION

DB would not play later in the season; that is what you think? I have first had knowledge that DB was willing to do anything to keep that game on the schedule because of the rivalry and potential gate money each team can make at a home game. It was South's decision; not coach Carter's, but South's admin that made the final call. If your theory is right, then why in the hell did South cancel the freshman and JV games? South plays weak local 4A teams and then hit a wall versus Maryville when actual tough teams were thrown in the mix. TN High was the only other tough team in the conference. Region 2 4A is usually a joke minus West and they are down. Try playing Region 2 5A when the teams are from some serouis football areas like Chattanooga and Knoxville because that is what DB faces every year in the playoffs. Round 1 for DB is Oak Ridge, Farragut, Ooltewah, & William Blount etc. Round 1 and 2 for South are M East, M West, Greeneville (a 3A team by numbers) and Daniel Boone? Are you kidding me? Not one of these teams would touch Oak Ridge, Farragut, Ooltewah, & William Blount, DB, or most other teams in their conferences. South did well in 2006 and was slaughtered by DB. South would have been butchered again in 2007. If it makes you feel better to think DB backed away from the rivalry, so be it. But I have never seen South try to go out and play anyone they don't have to. DB plays Oak Ridge every year by choice. We have also played MBA in recent years and are looking for other teams that will actually play DB and not shy away from better teams as South does. South should make it to the semis every year given the cup cake road they have to travel. South never gets past Knoxville. That is one thing DB can put in your face all day. Hell, our conference is Knoxville and we play the usually toughest team in region 2 (Oak Ridge) every year by choice. South fans are the ones blinded by slop. South kids are the ones that drive their cars and trucks to DB by the dozens to DB every year and wave the confederate flag around trying to annoy DB students. South fans just need to realize that South had the FINAL say so in ending the game, that is for sure. More then likely the South admin did it to keep South hope from being crushed and their confidence high. :salute:

again. quit pulling up old threads man. I know for a fact DB wouldn't play the game later in the season. It's a fact.

By the way when you think of narrow minded South fans; think of your fans actually thinking that this game is even a rivalry. For DB it is target practice and a chance to laugh at the dumb South fans that go to DB in their trucks and wave the confederate flag or make shirts about a DB player that almost beat South by himself in 2006.

Bull crap. AS long as you spew your crap; I will be right there to call your bs. Your story carries so much weight since it was South that called and cancelled the JV and frosh games in 2006. What do you say about that because I know this for a fact as well. It is always easy for a sore loser to have excuses

learn to read buddy. I'm not a South alum, a South fan nor do i really care about DB (well that DB). I just know that DB would not schedule the game late in the season. They would only play the first game. Feel free to keep making stuff up.

But don't ever act like that whacked out group of kids from DB is any better than the country boy rednecks of South. It's the worst of both worlds when you compare those schools.

Also, if you want a fair fight, give South 1/2 the money DB gets to fund their school.

Now this is becoming too easy and I am just having so much fun exposing your crap. First, learn to read yourself. I don't care who you are, or what school you back. You obviously care enough to defend South so you are probably either a South backer or more likely a DB hater as many are.

#1 Let me school you on football since you did not have to pass the IQ test to get on volquest. High school teams generally have their conference games set for the later part of the schedule so both South and DB would not have been able to play. See, there are these things called CONTRACTS signed way in advance and they can last for many years. Even if DB or South wanted to play in the later part of the season, it would be impossible. Even if it would have been for during the week of the William Blount, Elizabethon, or Oak Ridge game it would be impossible for DB because again; I know this contracts were in place before South decided to back out. So quit trying to paint DB as a school scared to play South because I have never seen South step out to play big boys as DB does on a regular basis with Oak Ridge, MBA, etc.

#2 The best part of your argument. DB is "whacked out" as you say and South is redneck right. Well, just check the academics of DB and choke on that because they are a top for public school in the state. south rednecks right? The median income for familes in South's zone is $53,651 as compared to $40,183 for DB families that also must pay a higher cost of living. South is really a bunch of preps that wave rebel flags, kinda like Ole Miss.

And #3 Your money argument (funding). Well you can check the stats yourself. South kids come from more money. DB has a fan base that donates most of their money, not from tax dollars. So if you were all knowing as you are; South just needs to have the parents donate money to the sports, just like DB did. Your whining reminds me of how all the county people bitched when Pal's donated all monies from 1 day of sales to DB athletics. Well guess what? Pal is a DB alum and Pal's is a private business that can give money to whatever they feel like. So cry me a river and bring back some real meat because you are pretty weak:dance2:
