Too me it is just obvious you have something against those schools. They are not much different then other schools. If you are in education, I hope you treat everyone equally.

they'd be asked where they were from. And typically a councilperson would ask about this or that teacher and carry on a very light conversation with them.

I feel sorry for those kids. Those damn meetings are boring as hell. What business did high-schoolers have there? Was it just for some class to get a feel for city government, or did they actually participate?

i'm not in education and I have nothing against those schools. I try to get along with all people. And I do at what most people that know me consider an alarming rate. While I may notice things they do here or there that I don't agree with, I don't hold anything against them. I always try to help anyone out and be there for them. I enjoy working with people. Like I say, it's just interesting to note how kids from different schools behave differently in certain settings.

Well there may have been an attmpt by South to later try and schedule the game. However, this year is the first year that DB will actually have some openings to play different teams and it is a FACT (I hope you understand) that South administration (not their coach) made the final decision to end the game. I am not saying that later South admin changed their minds and approached DB about playing again. Initially though it was South that pulled the plug

yeah.. it was just for govt class. Say what you want about those meetings. Compared to Johnson City's slugfests, the Kingsport meetings were top notch. I will admit i have issues with the way city meetings are handled.

of course at KPT meetings we got the same flat fee and they were guaranteed to end at a certain time. JC meetings could just drag on forever.

I'm still not buying it. South and North probably send their top students to these council meetings. D-B probably asks any one of the 50 kids with over a 4.0 to head down there. Maybe some of those guys turn out to be smart kids with bad attitudes. Maybe you've happened to notice a few cocky athletes strutting about in their Indian jerseys. I still know about 15 D-B kids and have met a bunch of their friends. I didn't get the impression that any of them would legitimately come across as a jerk in public.

You could be right on the initial part. That would be while i was still in school at ODU. But i know that South and DB had a chance to make it work towards the end, but DB wasn't willing to change their schedule. It sucked, not because who would have won, it's just a great rivalry. DB/Hill because of competition and then DB/South and Daniel Boone/Crockett for hatred purposes are the best in the area. Tennessee High and Virginia High is fun to watch as well. smaller schools it's always fun when Hampton and Cloudland get together or for some reason when Unaka and University High get together.

from what i gathered working the city meetings (and I worked most of them) every DB student in govt class had to attend.

it also seemed as if South and North were simply doing it for extra credit.

You make the above claim. You are like a politician in this quote. However, a couple of pages back you say,

"But don't ever act like that whacked out group of kids from DB is any better than the country boy rednecks of South. It's the worst of both worlds when you compare those schools."


Sounds like you really enjoy working with people and as you say, "don't hold anything against them":eek:k:

I don't think D-B really even hates South too much. I'm not sure, but I think we've beaten them 10+ in a row. I would never enter the football season just thinking about how eager I was to see them destroyed. Then the week of the game would roll around and South would pull some sort of vandalism or slander one of our players and the student body would be out for blood. Then, the inevitable 35 point beatdown would occur and no one would care anymore.

I probably shouldnt' talk about them on here either, but you caught me in a moment. Do you just write off everyone that annoys you? I don't. And every once in a while i have to speak my mind. Even teachers do it.

I took two government classes and never went to one. The same teacher I had is still there. It may also be that attendance gives you extra credit, so you get a lot of slackers that need to make up ground.

Dude,

Shut the hell up about the DB South game because DB did everything they could to keep that game going. DB in no way had a chance to chage their schedule and to say they did is directly calling me and me close friends and family liars. Trust me, as a pers on that tries to help raise money for DB football, every possible avenue was looked at. Blame South for the initial cut off, but not their coach, he has balls

I base my opinions on what I have seen too and it makes me sick that you actually teach. I guess it is a good thing that you are not in the city school system and I just remembered why the City teaches make more $; because they are great teachers; and they don't label and rate kids. Dude, if I ever figure out who you are I have saved this entire thread and please sleep well knowing that I will might just send it to the board to try and figure out who a 26 year old volfanbill is. Have a great night and please get a new job. Don't underestimate me either
