Ja'Wuan James on Joshua Dobbs

Ok the title is not misleading but your initial comments make it sound like he is going to say something in support of Dobbs. All he said was that he is smart and fast. I'll just take the same link and attach a stupid comment of my own and start a new thread. How's this: Tiny was not sure he would make the first team.
About as relevant as your post

He also said he had a strong arm. But this is a great lesson in selective reading. Why? The odd thing was my thread was a sort of peace offering to the "Dobbs is a god" people. But you and I who apparently both don't see him in the same light as his heralds end up sniping at each other. Pretty ridiculous, I think. But if you're going to do what you say above, set it to the appropriate music.

good for you and your perspective. As i said, i thought it was interesting. Especially coming from someone who's vested with guarding the qbs and sees these guys in action daily. My disclaimer statement of my post not being an ode to dobbs apparently wasn't noticed. I'm not even advocating the guy and yet. . . .

I also find it interesting that when my neighbors right next door mow their lawn, it barely looks mowed. Might be they're lazy, their mower doesn't work good, or they do it to limit the ability of weeds to compete with the grass. In any case, i certainly won't be telling them to not fear sweating so do a better job, or cut it shorter, , or get a new mower, or offer them a canister of roundoff. Cause i only find it interesting and nothing else. Not being snide, just saying

what does ur neighbors grass have to do with our qbs

I see your point. People will always read what they want. Someone could argue that maybe Tiny thinks Riley is better because he did not mention Dobbs when asked about the freshmen. This would be reaching, which I felt your post was as well initially
Anyways, moving on.

Tyler Bray is the last Tennessee Quarterback I would ever want to be compared to...Horrible leader, horrible Closer, Horrible decision-maker, and horrible win-loss record....Not a very good comparison for Riley Ferguson.....JMO

A lot of sites had Bray projected as the number one pick in his class after his freshman year. I wouldn't be pissed if someone compared me to freshman Bray.

This thread = FAIL.

Sometimes it is just better when you have a highly competent HC tell you who is the best QB for his team. Then he will come out with a depth chart and if your guy is not on it or down the list you have your answer. Everybody has a favorite. That's OK. Just be realistic in your personal understanding of the game and your team.

It has been Worley's since the beginning. It has been Peterman's to back up since the beginning. They are the best hope for winning games due to leadership, experience, team chemistry, and talent. The hype over the freshmen builds excitement and helps them gain reps. If one of them ends up starting expect our Vols to have a losing record this season. This is the SEC, not the MAC or Sunbelt.

Stuff happens, man. But it's always great seeing a Vols fan who is big enough to shove a little tiff aside and like you said, . . ."moving on." Keep it real, bro.

Neyland50: what does ur neighbors grass have to do with out qbs

I have no idea what my neighbors grass has to do without QBs. Maybe forfeit any games they play? Heck man, I didn't even know grass played football, let alone did it without QBs. :loco:

You bash Bray but I'm sure mid way through this season you'll wish we still had him

Exactly. He comes in as a Freshman and takes over a 2-6 team. He takes us to 4 straight wins with 150 points scored and a bowl game.

That UNC team also had 4 players taken in the first 2 Rounds that weren't playing for most of the year due to suspension so their talent level was higher than their record showed.

I won't lie. I was incredibly excited with our prospects and was impressed with Bray, outside of the immature throat slash against UNC.

Maybe, but let's address something John isn't paying attention to. James specifically stated Riley reminded him of Tyler when he was a freshman. John is ignoring the fact that Ja'Wuan specifically selected this stage for the Tyler comparison as opposed to the later stages.

John is also ignoring that James is referring to the arm strength and not the entire person of Tyler Bray. When people decide to read selectively, they provide truly foolish posts. Not that I'm immune to that vice, as I'd be the first to tell you I've done it myself. The trick is to realize it or recognize it as true if pointed out and make the necessary correction. Some people can, some people can't and some people don't give a d@!%. The don't give a d@!% people just want to tell you they're right and you're wrong.

Bray seemed like a good leader as a Freshman, honestly.

Also, Bray has addressed his immaturity and, with a legit coaching staff, seems to be making strides to improve. If the Chiefs didn't like the changes he's made with his maturity and drive, they'd have cut him instead of Stanzi.

Idk why some of you are taking sides the way you are. Good lord. Both of these kids are Vols. They both decided to come to Knoxville and wear the orange and white. Support them both and may the better man win.

Cause one is black and the other is white. We have no choice but to take sides. Where have you been?

And Fergy puts me in mind of another NC QB from what ive seen so far.... wait for it, wait for it,

That's right, CrompDaddy. Now that's a kid, with the right coaching that could have been way more successful. and we saw that in the Unspoken time.

Put ol' Crompalatte in Butch's offense, and he would have been pretty darn good. IMO.

Kid was tough and not afraid to pick up some yards. Had a decent arm, too.

You went the Cromp route and not the Shuler route? Bold move.

you can definitely see his eyes light up when he talked about Dodds. I think in about 2 years we are going to be sitting pretty in the QB department. I suspect that Worley will start the next two years and then we are going to have a seasoned QB step into the roll. I'd say that all 3 underclassmen have the potential for being great.

I figured with the average age of the members, most weren't alive before Peyton Manning! lol

I remember when Shuler came back and played in Neyland in 1995 against the Oilers, I was there. Those were the days.

I only barely remember the Shuler years. Well, I remember going to Disney World for the first time as well as the Citrus Bowl in Orlando in 93-94.

Looking back on it, that was pretty damned smooth by my dad to work in that Citrus Bowl trip as a "trip to Disney World and while we're in Orlando..." segue.

Your Dad is a smart man. Disney was probably cheaper in January and more comfortable.

How much does an olineman really see before the ball is thrown?

I think I'm more qualified to comment on his pocket presents then James.

But James will watch a bit more film than any of us. I'm guessing he has an opinion we would be wise to listen to.

One of these guys will be our QB, the other will be transferring. I think Dobbs will get the final nod, but who knows. I could see Dobbs transferring to either GT if he doesn't get the spot. I can also see Peterman leaving if he doesn't get a shot.

Nuctech777:
This in no way favors Dobbs over any other quarterback. You could just as easily posted Riley's name and referenced the Bray comparison or how they said he is commanding in the huddle. No need for a new thread for this, especially with such a misleading and inaccurate title.

Read my post again. You will see I'm not even advocating Dobbs. As for the title it says "Ja'Wuan James on Joshua Dobbs" which typically means the first named person is commenting on the second named person. But if you wish or insist, you can even interpret it as the first named person is humping the second named person. All depends on how you insist on perceiving something.

Woodsman -

Thanks for the posts. You can't take many on here seriously. Most are in their 20s still trying to get laid on a regular basis whilst feeling good about being the next "X-box king". Ignore and move on is a good game plan.

Tyler bray is the best quarterback to play at UT since Peyton manning. He played on a team with an excellent offense and a horrible defense. I bet you think Worley will be really good just because he is a good guy.
