Woodsman -

Thanks for the posts. You can't take many on here seriously. Most are in their 20s still trying to get laid on a regular basis whilst feeling good about being the next "X-box king". Ignore and move on is a good game plan.

And then there are people like me...I'm 60 but still trying to get laid on a regular basis. Unfortunately, my wife has adopted utvols game plan of ignoring and moving on...

Thanks to the op for the post. I like the tidbit about Coach Jones making it live when Dobbs is out there.

As for this thread: my wife says I'm a pessimist, but I know that I'm ultimately an optimist. Why else would I be surprised every time I read the preposterous paths these threads take. I admit to not reading every post on the board, but I keep hearing how there are those who have anointed Dobbs as the best thing since Manning, but I keep not hearing anyone anoint Dobbs as the best thing since Manning. I do hear people who agree with me that we like what we've read on Dobbs coming in, and hope he lives up to it. Couple that with the fact that we don't like what we've seen from Worley and you end up with the notion that we hope Dobbs lives up to it sooner rather than later. It's all right with me (and 99% of the folks around here) if it ends up being Ferguson, or even Peterman, instead. I just don't think it will.

If Fergy can throw anything like Bray and still be mobile our offense will be just fine.

Everything I read bout Ferg is he has a take charge attitude, good situational awareness, highly competitive and

has pocket presents...lol there I said it!

And Dobbs...I really haven't heard anything bad about him either. Both are playing at a very high level for freshman, no doubt!

Tyler bray is the best quarterback to play at UT since Peyton manning. He played on a team with an excellent offense and a horrible defense. I bet you think Worley will be really good just because he is a good guy.

Bray was exceptional talent with bad mechanics, bad prep habits (what film room?), lacked leadership, was too immature and a tad on the non-muscular side. He also clammed up a few times in tight games (GA, FL, etc). If Bray would have put it all together and the coaches wouldn't have given him too much slack, he would have been a first rounder.

Now that he has been humbled and had time to mature, I think a great future lies ahead.

What is it that you expect one player to say publicly about teammates?

I'm not saying he was being sincere or just political... but he will NOT come out and say... "nah, neither is any good."

I believe he was referring to the quote of that "every time he's in the game Coach says it's live", opposed to the other Qb's. Maybe Coach Jones is preparing him differently?

That's what I thought as well, with the added possibility that he's using Dobbs to prepare the defense for the more mobile guys we might face.

Put Bray's talent with Clausen's ice veins and we'd have won a lot more games last year... bad D or not.

I have to admit, I don't understand the Clausen love on this board. He was a decent QB who had a couple of memorable drives and quite a few total collapses. Does anyone remember 5 of 14 for 63 yds vs Miami, or 14 for 26, 161 yds, and 3 picks vs Alabama? He had a great running game his whole career, and ran the play-action stuff well.

Idk why some of you are taking sides the way you are. Good lord. Both of these kids are Vols. They both decided to come to Knoxville and wear the orange and white. Support them both and may the better man win.

this.
this guy right here.
this man gets it.

Yep. Cause QBs win those things by themselves.

(During the great Arkansas fiasco, with the game on the line, the great Tee Martin...turned and handed it to Travis Henry, who dragged defenders down the field play after play until the comeback was complete. Or did I dream it.)
