All of the talk about Gordon and Stewart and Stewart being better at this poin in their careers got me wondering. How had Gordon and Stewart did in their first 8 full seasons (Stewart just completed his 8th season)

So, entering their 9th full seasons in the Cup Series....

Gordon - 52 wins, 129 top5s, 166 top10s, 3 championships, in 257 races
Stewart - 29 wins, 108 top5s, 168 top10s, 2 championships, in 284 races

Now, to slant it in Stewart's favor, the comparison between the two in Stewart's time in the Cup Series....

Gordon - 33 wins, 113 top 5s, 164 top10s, 1 championship, in 284 races
Stewart - 29 wins, 108 top5s, 168 top10s, 2 championships, in 284 races

Now for the guy that got no mention in this discussion, Jimmie Johnson. How does he stack up since joining the Cup Series fulltime in 2002?

Johnson - 23 wins, 66 top5s, 110 top10s, 1 championship, in 183 races

Compared to Gordon and Stewart's first 5 full seasons...

Gordon - 29 wins, 74 top5s, 95 top10s, 2 championships, in 156 races
Stewart - 17 wins, 66 top5s, 105 top10s, 1 championship, in 176 races.

Keep in mind Gordon won several of his championships against some of the best drivers Nascar ever fielded.

good job Gordon, and there is nothing sweeter than Gordon getting No. 77 at the place Earnhardt Nation lives at, Talladega!!! Right in front of all those dumb rednecks who think throwing stuff on the track is cool, Gordon cemented his place ahead of Earnhardt. I love it, you stupid nimrods got what you deserve.

I am happy for the Jeffy fans on here that are true and classy fans of his. I did not enjoy seeing Jeffy pass Dale Sr. in wins, but it was going to happen eventually. The Jeffy fans that constantly praise him, call him a God, and throw what he does in people's faces need to take off the rainbow colored glasses and get back to reality. His arrogant fans (some, not all) are one of the main reasons why people hate him so much. Anyways, congrats to the Jeffy fans that have some class.

As for me, I'll borrow a line out of Tom Petty's song to describe just how Jeff Gordon must feel about right now.(I just hope it stays that way).

"It's good to be king,if just for a while".:p
