I think Jelan is being pushed towards Clemson by Wheeler folks, but I also think if we had not "dissed" him when we had Selby, he would have had interest.

I would love to see him operating as the PG in the Pearl system. Memphis cannot offer him the PT we can.

If we have a great season, he may be like lots of these guys and not decide until Spring so he can watch March Madness and see who he is "feeling".

I am rooting for a horrid year from Pastner and a great year for Pearl and the Vols that shows that we score a ton and play intense defense but also have fun with runout dunks etc.

A class that included him would make me really happy.

We need to hit the recruiting trail much harder.
Agreed. However, if there is a Maccabiah Games qualifying event coming up, such mundane details as procuring the players necessary to compete for SEC titles will have to wait. Bruce has his priorities.

You guys kill me. Bruce has taken a program that hasn't been worth a damn for more than 20 years and turned it into a national force. UT will always be a football school but the amount of excitement and winning that Pearl has brought to UT very quickly should be applauded. UT will end up with a very good recruiting class and Coach Pearl will win the SEC the majority of the years he is here. How many other college basketball coaches were on ESPN this summer multiple times?

You just have to ignore hat, anytime you are talking about basketball he will diss Pearl. Most people are used to it and just ignore him.

a national force.

really? Is that why recruits are beating down the door to come here?

I love this one. Women's basketball has had far more success than football, but I don't think any UT fan will just settle for "excitement"

How many other college basketball coaches were on ESPN this summer multiple times?

What benefit has that had? Will that help win the SECCG anytime soon?

You guys kill me.

You kill yourself

Given that he's 1 out of 4 in that regard so far, I guess we can expect a flurry of SEC titles on the horizon to validate your assertion.

A national force? Not even close.

Why would we mention something that is flat out false??

It's not false. Even when Green was here the program didn't mean squat. This program never got the attention it's getting now. What the hell are you talking about? I can't argue with people that obviously do not have the ability to be objective. You hate Pearl - we get it - your act is so tired.

Not as tired as the babble of sheep who act like Tennessee hasn't had a decent year in 20 years in order to prop up their self tanned deity. If winning the SEC doesn't matter, then Tanning Bed hasn't done anything either. Oh, I see. The mindless homers are so enamored with Pearl being on the set at the Final Four talking about the games that they consider that just as good as playing in the games.

Seriously, it's not worth arguing with you. To not acknowledge the fact that the program is in better shape now than when he started is ridiculous and quite frankly tells me all I need to know about you... not to mention your numerous references to his tan... are you obsessed? Maybe you're jealous of his tan - or maybe he stole your girlfriend or something. Fans can't even be appreciative of the progress the program has made without being labeled a "Pearlophile" or "sheep", smh.

I'm not the one who made the idiotic post about how terrible Tennessee was in each of the 20 years prior to Saint Bruce's arrival to lead us out of the wilderness.

It got a pretty steady amount of television coverage. It's revisionist history to say otherwise.

I still say bring back Buzzball when we struggled to get 3 star players to even look at us and didn't even try to recruit top talent.

Yes, that was a joke. The same as acting as if Pearl has not upgraded the program because he hasn't gone farther than a sweet 16.

Q: How has your friendship with (long-time AAU teammate) Jordan McRae changed?

A: "We were roommates on AAU trips, and we're suitemates now. Things haven't really changed at all. There are still times we go in each other's room - and having Tobias with us now - we're all there for each other in our times of need. You know you have your ups and downs when you're a freshman. We like to just chill out and play video games. We play Madden (football) and we like to go see the movies, go to the volleyball games. Just hang out. None of us are big partyers.''

Poor Jelan, could have been a part of a special group of guys. Instead he is stuck in Memphis...

Leave Jelan in Memphis. He is a problem we don't want.
