Jelan Kendrick as THE PG

I wont get into the government situation here but our new mayor is making important strides in revamping the image of the city. If we can get consolidation passed then we can catastrophically improve the city. Just look at Nashville before consolidation and afterward.

I didnt defend our players in the past that got in trouble like Dorsey dancing on a table at the Plush club and Dozier assaulting a girl with a water bottle. however, Kendrick really doesnt deserve this type of ridicule. The situation is really a personal matter that led to an altercation that has since be resolved but Kendrick needed some extra time to work everything out.

Don't worry. It's very common for MHF to respond in a manner that makes absolutely no sense. As to the real issues with this kid, I have no knowledge except media reports. I hope he gets things worked out and has a productive career.

We all do too. The good thing is that he played ball with Joe Jackson, Tarik Black, Chris Crawford and Adonis Thomas last year for the Memphis Magic. Its not a chemistry issue necessarily but its definitely something that has to want to fix, no one is going to make him and if he doesnt figure everything out then he'll be the equivalent of a college bball free agent.

The real issue you have MHF is that he post some of the positive things about the Vols. Go give hat a big french and let the rest of us alone.

The real issue I have with MHF is he knows nothing about basketball and tries to pass himself off as an expert. As to the Hat reference, I'm not into gay activities as you apparently are. I'll leave male french to you.

since this thread was started on here, I will add that Jelan Kendrick has been released from the University of Memphis and is no longer a part of the basketball team as of this afternoon. He had another altercation with team mates at shoot around yesterday and was suspended for the second time last night. I have no fuirther details and would bring this up but felt warranted considering this thread already exists.

I knew it was coming. Kendrick could not be a team player. There is another on the tigers team that will have a problem.

This wasnt about him being a team player. It was much more personal and this altercation yesterday was the "icing" on what Pastner decided was "irreconcilable differences" between team mates.

As for the second part, Im not sure who you are referring to. The only two possible are Will Barton and Joe Jackson. Only one of them makes sense in a slight perspective to me.

Really? That doesn't speak to his ability of being a team player?

I feel that this post makes about as much sense as 3/4 of the stuff I have read in the bball forum over the last month or so.

Memphis recruited way too many guards and small forwards last year, they do not have enough playing time for all of those players. I don't know Kendrick's situation but it was inevitable someone was transferring or leaving the team this year. If Kendrick was smart he would have gone to UGA. I don't think we have room for him here.

We have room for him on the basketball floor, maybe not in the locker room?

Hes always had issues with it and it obviously doesnt make it look any better but his issues needed to be handled and he and Pastner agreed that he wasnt going to be able to do so while at Memphis.

Our guards next year:

PG- Chris Jones/Kevin Ware
SG- Scotty Hopson/Trae Golden
SF- Cam Tatum/Renaldo Woolridge

We lose Cam, Scotty, and Swiperboy next year. We could use another two guard, and some more 3's. I don't know if we need him or not. How's our 2012 basketball recruiting looking?

Edit: For some reason, I thought Jendrick was a PG/SG, but he can play the 3 at 6'6/190. I say bring him on. Top 15 players don't grow on trees.

You forgot to add Jordan McRae to the SF list above, he will probably beat out Woolridge before the start of next year. Let's face it, Woolridge can't beat Pearl out at the 4, so I like McRae's chances, beating him out at any position.

I promise you, we will have some extremely pissed off players if Kendrick joined the Vols and just because he is better than other players doesn't mean we have room for him with a loaded backcourt. This backcourt will have too many guys and someone would transfer before the start of next season. You can look at the other side of the coin and say we already have Jones and Ware (who is a combo guard) locked up, so we don't have to worry about losing them because we have their signature. Additionally, Kendrick is ranked higher than anybody we have except Tobias and Scotty, so he would bring better skills,

I think we need to focus on big men for 2011-2012 and add some depth to the post positions.

You just have to ignore hat, anytime you are talking about basketball he will diss Pearl. Most people are used to it and just ignore him.
This is good advice, think of the HatvolTroll as a pus pocket on your hiney that you have popped and have no need to revisit.

Frequent application use of the Ignore feature of the forum is your friend. Out of sight, out of mind. :p

Forgot about McRae, but still, we lose two players in Cam/Scotty. You would see no more McBee. He's a 5* prospect who can play all three positions. To me, you take him. It seemed his problem with just with a couple dudes on the team.
