Jeopardy

He's good for Jeopardy because I/we want to see how far he goes, but of all the Jeopardy stars, he's got one of the most boring personalities. His grin looks so forced and he's a little arrogant in obnoxious ways. He's just not that likable, despite probably being a really nice guy. I'm not rooting for him or against him.

Jeopardy purists were making these same complaints about board hopping with an Asian kid from a couple years back. I can't remember his name. Turns out Brad and Ken used the strategy too, they're just likable so nobody cared.

Update

Arthur Chu - Wikipedia

My wife has openly stated she can’t wait to see Ken Jennings kick his ass and she doesn’t like James pretty the same reasons you listed.

LOL I love Jennings, but he got owned by Brad Rutter multiple times now. I'd say Ken's beatable. With the amount of knowledge present at a game like that, it will all come down to clicker speed.

James reminds me of post-accident Christopher Pike from the original Star Trek episode "The Menagerie".

Maybe Alex should just give all three contestants a participation trophy and split the money evenly.

Give me a dang break. More people are probably watching the show now than any time in the past five years. We record and watch every night to see James.

If you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best!
Glad I'm not the only one DVRs Jeopardy.

Jennings=Peyton/Maddux
Rutter=Mariano Rivera/Brady
James=? maybe Koufax and Otto Graham?

Lol at Griff

Trebek is cool and Stern is a douche. Silver is way better than Stern, IMO.

I meant Merv, autocorrect. Agreed. Stern was pretty good about globalizing the NBA though. Having Jordan didn’t hurt either.

We’ll see what Silver does when LeBron retires to not continue to lose viewership. That’s why I said a month or two ago watch the Knicks get the #1 pick and get Zion..

Stern did a good job overall, just not likable and he stayed on too long. He became resistant to change and he had a few atrocious errors, like allowing the Pau Gasol trade happen and then trying to make up for it by blocking the completely valid Chris Paul trade.

They're losing viewership?

Playoff are numbers are apparently terrible.

Probably a result of the opening round matchups being garbage. Playoff ratings can be pretty fickle, varying greatly depending on the markets, players, or matchups.

ESPN, ABC NBA Conference Semifinals Ratings Up – Deadline

I’m definitely not surprised by that. Thank goodness Houston and GS might be a series. NBA is gonna be super pissed when the Bucks make the Finals. You’re more of NBA guy than me, so you may disagree.

On topic though. The teachers tournament is so underwhelming after the last few weeks or so. Last night those teachers were pretty pathetic

Giannis has big starpower potential, so the NBA may not mind too much

I'm rooting against him now. He gets douchier every episode
Green is not a good shade on you.

I hope this guy wins so much money it’s simply cheaper to hire him as the next host than to let him keep playing. His underbite smile will charm the masses for decades to come.

I've liked basically every big winner ever, but whatever.

He's charming you? When was the last time you had human contact?

Ha! Yeah, "charming" would not be in the list of adjectives I would use in describing James.

Watching tonight, I'm curious how many of the questions the other contestants knew but were slow on the buzzer. James quite obviously has that sucker timed just right (or it's rigged for ratings).

I've watched nightly for years but am pretty much tuned out at this point. It's not a fun spectacle to watch.
