Jeronne Maymon update

"First off, and on a postiive front, Derek Reese is officially cleared to play and back with the team in a full time role now. Zo said that he will not play this Saturday vs. Xavier. Said there was a chance he could play against Memphis.

Maymon is dressed for practice today and shot some free throws but hasn't done any kind of work with the team in 5-on-5 settings. Zo indicated still no time table there, but looks like this could at least be small step in the right direction."

Guess he's not going to Europe, tried to tell y'all...

"It's really tough to know that I can't be on the court with my teammates this season," Maymon said. "But I have confidence in them, just like I have confidence in these coaches and our medical staff. I know this is in my best interest, and I am going to work incredibly hard to come back as an even better player and teammate next season. I love Tennessee.

Agree. I've maintained all along that age will also be a factor in pulling the professional trigger after this season. Playing a season in Europe will look more attractive than playing for a team as offensively handicapped as this one.

Maymon will participate in senior night activities if he is playing or not.

And technically Maymon is listed as a RS Senior.

You believe Maymon will return because that benefits UT. I believe Maymon earns $200K next season because that benefits Maymon.

What's negative about that?

Good call.

So he is gone? Not redshirting?

Amazing that some people actually thought he was going to come back with a month left in the season and save us or go to Europe to play.

That's a good move for Maymon, this dude is going to unleash hell on the court next season.

Can Maymon return to 100% for next season? I just want to know what's up with his injury?

Cuonzo: Maymon will be 100% ready for practice later this month but will still redshirt.

I hope they don't rush him back for a month then. Is it 100% he's RSing?

Yes, the announcement from UTsports with statements from Cuonzo and jeronne has already happened.

Plus, he said START practicing at the end of the month. That means END of January, meaning it's probably mid February at the earliest before he could sniff a game. Why bring him back for a month tops?

He's coming back for half a month so he can jumpstart his Europe career. At least, wouldn't that be more believable if he was going to go pro as UT IE wants us to believe? I would think Maymon would tell Martin the truth and tell him that his goal is to go pro after this season. So, screw the redshirt. Let's get him ready for Europe.
