Jeronne Maymon

He shouldnt be playing then !! Am i stupid for thinkin that ? I mean seriously... You acknowledge he cant jump half a foot off the court and his knees are shot and yet hes starting !? Sounds like more coaching brilliance from the Quonz !

He won us the game against Arky. 17pts, 9 boards However, I'm done arguing with someone who lacks basketball intelligence.

You have zero argument anyway ! And mcrae had 34 against arky but im sure that had nothing to do with tennessee winning that game !

Take Maymon out and we lose that game. take Maymon out tonight and we only have 9 rebounds. Maymon is a force underneath creating difficult shots & getting offensive boards.

Yup this guy would rather have Moore Reese or Edwards start over Maymon. Shows his basketball IQ right there

Also lost us the game against A&M so it can go both ways. But honestly he is toughing it out and I appreciate his love for Tennesse but I don't think that is an excuse for all the missed layups I mean come on you can't blame his knees for everything. Dejuan Blair basically has no knees yet he still dunks

Lol, The whole team shot poorly from the line. Martin cost us that game. McRae jacked up a shot like he did tonight. Most of his missed layups are smacked off the backboard. C'mon now, They can't make me all either. His defense and rebounding is key to this offense.

The A&M reference is a joke but I do have a question. How can he rebound so well with his knees as bad as they are?

I would actually... A good mix of the 3 and some maymon wouldnt hurt... Stokes is showing he can handle the post anyway. Maymon can be a good leader and an inspiration from the bench too. I dont think maymon has made a difference for tennessee this year.... There are others who feel the same way and there are some who feel like you. Doesnt make our basketball IQs low or yours high.

I feel bad for him. You go in for a routine surgery and expect to be out just a couple of weeks. Next thing you know, you have a bad infection and can't even run for months.
Z is right. However, discussing his basketball skills is about the game and not the person. That's where you have to differentiate.
imo, he must have the hands the size of that small hand guy on the cheeseburger commercials. No way he can palm the ball and at times it appears he may be thumbless with the way the ball comes out

Right which goes back to getting in good position which is what I think is weird because on a lot of his missed layups he gets in good position and then just seems to miss it

If you watch the game he puts them off the backboard and they usually get smacked off by the defensive player or he puts to much power on it. Still, He was 4-8 tonight hitting his last 3. That's better than everyone but stokes.

So basically he doesn't have that good of touch

It's like people forget he was 56% from the field his junior year before his knee gave out.

He was a great player before the injury. I thought his return gave us the equivalent of a high 4 star/5 star added to the lineup. Unfortunately, he's a shell of his former self.

He does. Just doesn't get help from the outside. Go to the LSU game. He created passing lanes for stokes when none was there. The announcers even commentated on it. When McRae was hitting from the outside he was on fire around the rim. You live & die from the three. Im defending the players and not the coach. Martin lost me
Tonight. To beat Tennessee you go to a 3-2 zone. That's his weakness.

You argue like maymon is some sort of difference maker and the fact of the matter is he isnt. Tennessee won 20 games without him last year and its lookin like they wont win that many with him this year.

First of all it's not just Maymon missing layups; but what amazes me is a lot of the time they don't even hit the rim.

No he hasnt hit his layups... And if his knee isnt healed he needs to sit and as i type he just missed another layup. And im not your friend dumbass

I dont need to watch what i say... And We arent pals. Floridas not in the final four yet and it is maymons fault hes missed 5 layups... This aint a discussion about his rebounding ! Start a maymon rebounding thread if you wanna talk about that. And i dont know if youre a dumbass but youre makin yourself out to be one.

Dang man, are you on your period?

Maymons offense was facing up and slashing to the basket getting put backs on the inside before his injury. He lost his whole offensive game when he lost his explosiveness. I went to the virginia game and watched him during warm ups, and he can't get an inch off the floor, his knees are shot. He should be a cheerleader on the end of the bench but Cuonzo is sticking with him, while he could be playing Reese and Davis.

What in the world happened to the basketball posters...they expect greatness and acknowledge how bad our coach is, but when we lose its like Duke or Kentucky fans over reacting after a loss...blaming this guy, then the next, and the next...guys get a grip!!!! Its only UT basketball here!!!!

I'd like to see you try to hit a layup over Patrick Young

If I was 6-8 I would make a layup over anybody. That, or I would've figured out how to draw fouls in order to do so or shoot from the line. If I was 6-8 I would put the ball through the hole and take arm's and any other appendages that get in the way. Some may laugh, but have you ever stood next to a 6-8 260 lb man? There's nothing that guy cant do if he wants to. And for all the one's who want to say..'There's guys that size in the NBA'. No, not exactly. Height, yes. Weight, nope. You HAVE to learn how to use your weight to your advantage. I'd deposit Kobe into the 3rd row in LA with my butt at 260. And then I'd slam over Gasol. Posterize his Spaniard arse on TV.
