One point overlooked by most. Jerry Green was the last basketball coach to start at Tennessee while John Ward was voice of the Vols. And when Ward retired, Kesling took over. As boring as Bob was and still is, that as much as anything made Green less tolerable to those rednecks.

You raise an interesting theory there . TBH when I first read it I did not even remotely see a connection.I was thinking about the actual calling of a game which on a somewhat related note I personally find Keslings basketball play by play to be much more tolerable than his football broadcasts. Correct me if I’m wrong here but I think you were referring to the coaches call in show? If so then yes I think that is a good point because John Ward was able to somewhat steer CJG away from revealing what a pompous horses arse he really was/is to the fans whereas Bob either wasn’t capable or did not care about doing so.
