article on volquest has scroggins saying things such as:

"I'm thinking about it, but I'm not sure," Scroggins said. "I'm going to talk to (U)SC and see what they have to say. I'm committed to them, but I'd like to go back out and chill with Bryce and the boys."

and

Right now I'm firm to USC, but you never know what the future holds."

hmm... thoughts?

If we get him here for the Georgia game as the article suggests, we have a great shot. I can't imaging anyone wanting a guaranteed ride on the bench for two plus years no matter what team it is!

He is coming no matter what. He doesnt want to ride the pine.

You will get scroggins and Bray this year

And Kiffin will build Bray from 185 to 220 easy.

IMO, this is no different than Phillip Sims wanting to visit UT to hang out with Askew. It doesn't necessarily mean Scroggins isn't solid to USC. He can take up to 5 visits to other schools for free, so why not use them?

You think this quote means he's here for a free visit?

"Right now I'm firm to USC, but you never know what the future holds."

Sounds to me it means a little more than just wanting to hang with the players.

im psyched about the opportunity to get any good player on campus for an official. an official means a little something. even if theyre just hangin out, visiting a place like neyland on a saturday night can do things to you.

It's a free trip to see friends and see a big game. Wouldn't you go? Heck, everybody wants to be the bmoc...and he would be that weekend. I think that's all this is.

Getting these kids to visit the campus is half the battle. If they come we have a good chance. Especially, when they are from the west coast. The Pac 10 teams just do not have the same energy levels at there games.

Good point, while I still think he stays at USC, I wonder how much of this has to do with what's going on out there with their QB situation and Pete Carrol saying he won't hesitate to play Barkley? May be way off on this but do any of you guys think the idea of Barkley coming in and starting right away has him second guessing his decision?

This is my take on things: Scroggins visited here and loved everything about it, and it sounds like he has formed a pretty good bond with players (He is clearly on a first name basis with Bryce) and most of all, loved the opprotunity to play early and often here. What overcame that though, was the pressure to stay close to home. Everybody around him wanted him to go to USC, especially his parents. They would be able to see almost all of his games, something they couldn't do if he went to UT. USC was just the smart choice, and I think Scroggins convinced himself that it was the right choice, even though he really likes Tennessee. He convinced himself that he would have a sure opprotunity to win at USC, whereas UT is rebuilding and still a question mark. In the back of his mind, he never stopped liking Tennessee, and that is why he is most likely going to visit. Will he be able to overcome all the pressure to stay at USC? Who knows, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me in the least, especially if we have a successful season.

I know everyone wants to forget but there is a Scroggins thread already.... and it has the info about Scroggins potentially visiting.
