USC was just the smart choice,This is my take on things: Scroggins visited here and loved everything about it, and it sounds like he has formed a pretty good bond with players (He is clearly on a first name basis with Bryce) and most of all, loved the opprotunity to play early and often here. What overcame that though, was the pressure to stay close to home. Everybody around him wanted him to go to USC, especially his parents. They would be able to see almost all of his games, something they couldn't do if he went to UT. USC was just the smart choice, and I think Scroggins convinced himself that it was the right choice, even though he really likes Tennessee. He convinced himself that he would have a sure opprotunity to win at USC, whereas UT is rebuilding and still a question mark. In the back of his mind, he never stopped liking Tennessee, and that is why he is most likely going to visit. Will he be able to overcome all the pressure to stay at USC? Who knows, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me in the least, especially if we have a successful season.
"There is an unknown about Tennessee," Scroggins said. "They have a good staff and some good players, but you don't know how they will do once they get into their schedule. I hope they go 12-0 because I like those guys out there. I want the best for everyone."
If UT lands Scroggins , then Bray might take Scroggins spot and go to SC. In my opinion bad move for UT , cause in the long run Bray will be much better than Scroggins. Right now Scroggins > Bray. In a year in a half Bray > Scroggins. JMO
Does anyone think that Pete Caroll may try and mess Lane? He recruited JS even though he doesn't need JS, CLK really wanted him. Rumor had it that Scroggins told Carroll a month prior to announcing that he was coming to SC. During that time we lose out on 2 other QB's Now CLK has made his way over to Cali to get Tyler Bray and all of a sudden Scroggins thinks he might visit Tennessee again and says "you never know what can happen."
This all seems strange. Now I'm not sure what their relationship was (CLK and CPC) but I'm sure it chaffes his tail when CLK talks about what HE did at USC. Maybe Carroll is sending a message saying "Hey Lane, remember I hired you and put you in position to be successful, don't forget where your bread was buttered."
