If Arky ends up with Petersen and we get Strong, to say Volnation should be pi$$ed is a major understatement.

Strongs a good coach. he's proven on buiding Defenses, rebuilding a program and has a winning record. He would be an automatic recruit magnet. He by far is the best and most qualified for HC. Don't know why so many are opposed to his hire. His tenure at UT would show good improvement his first year and with all the resources at UT his 2nd and 3rd year we would be Very competitive.

Peterson has done good in big games, but usually the big games are with a month or whole off season to prepare. Ist different when you play a big time opponent every week. Plus with exception to the Georgia win, they typically played teams that didnt wanna be in the game.

Really dude.Let's see.He beat Oregon twice,Oklahoma,Va Tech, and Georgia. The only one you can say that about is Oklahoma. And why would Oklahoma not want to play in the Fiesta Bowl. It's a BCS Bowl.

I tend to agree with this............

I honestly believe that Hart has already screwed this hire up from the on-set. The story is that he was supposed to have contract in-hand or atleast a memorandum of understanding last Wednesday with Gruden. Hart in-formed Gruden that he wouldn't have the said documents and that he wanted to interview more in NY. This is when Gruden said no. Word is Gruden wanted around 9 mil including assistants but Hart was at 8.3. The check into cash man and another big booster were going to kick in the difference but Hart botched it. Word is that Peyton is pissed!

IF this is true, and Hart let $700,000 stand in the way of hiring Gruden, he should be fired. Plus, Peyton is not the only one who is pissed!

Anybody know what Saban and his staff costs the university ? Was it $9 million ? If so Hart should be fired for not ponying up. If Saban is doing it for $7-$8 million I don't blame Hart for being concerned with the cost. It seems Saban has set the price for NC winning staff.

"on-set" and "in-formed" do not actually have hyphens in them, but I reckon maybe you do pro-nounce them that-away. :)

LOL! This is like a collection of all the worst rumors that have no basis in fact at all in one single place. Good job!

Beating a dead horse, but...

Gruden makes $4.4 million from Monday Night Football alone.

He makes more, perhaps $1-2 million more, from endorsements he would have to give up, such as Hooters and Madden 2012.

He just signed a five-year contract with ESPN in September, and is one of the most popular announcers on MNF ever.

Do you think he LOVES being on MNF? Of course he does!

Is he going to leave all that for likely less money (even Saban "only" makes $5.6 million a year), to try and please a fanbase at a program in need of a serious rebuilding job that fired a coach who won the NC and had 0.750 win percentage?

Seriously.....GRUDEN WAS NEVER IN PLAY! HIS AGENT CALLED IT A FANTASY!

FANTASY....what the hell is wrong with you people? SMH.....

help me understand y'all...

Do you guys NOT like Charlie Strong for the job, or is it just a lot of mixed emotions here right now about the posibility of him coming to UT?

Forgive me in advance... i've been outta the loop for a while.

I'd love for him to be the head coach MZTERRY,i think he could do a great job here,i wanted him when Kiffen was hired,it has been slow for him getting HC offers, but of course we might not have you and your son here either, that would be a loss for sure :) and how is your sons rehab going ? good i hope.I'm looking to watching him play next year

I just came online.... I have absolutely avoided logging on until the heat died out here. lol

Croomster is doing good!! thank u. I miss him... haven't seen him in a few weeks.

As for Charlie Strong, I actually like him... He tried recruiting Jason..... Louisville was just outside of the realms of where I wanted Jason to be. Strange how things could come full circle isn't it? lol

Our feelings for UT remain the same. Still VFL.... although I still love my Dooley....

Whomever gets the opportunity to lead this team, I just pray that they're committed to the values that brought us to UT in the first place.

i liked Doolley too,the Sunseri hire killed him, good to hear that Croomster is doing good, like i said Strong would be a good one here and i don't blame you for dodging all the uh stuff on here either lol it has been deep and down right meant at times, hopefully it will be Strong as the next HC,but hard to tell until Hart makes it official, unless you have heard something lol and if you have,i wouldn't post it ,of course i would post it for you and brag about my insider source :) and mention no names

I like him a lot. Parts of me believe he can make us a championship team. I guess i am worried about him putting together a top notch staff that can teach life and ball as well as commanding the program. We could do a lot worse

Will we be able to criticize him without being called racists?

It's a serious question. If the answer is yes, then I could get behind him. But if the answer is no, then I'd rather just go ahead and get a white guy, so as not to have to deal with that crap all day, every day.

I hope Charlie Strong is chosen. He's certainly no less of a gamble than Dan Mullen was, to MSU...and we all know how that worked out. If he is, I think it would be a good idea to keep Chaney, Graham and Pittman, not only for continuity's sake, but because being the most prolific offense in the SEC is no small feat. If the defense had held up it's side, then every game was winnable except the Bama, maybe.

FWIW, I think some are not all that sold because he's coaching in the Big East and hasn't had success for that long of a period. But no one available, outside of Patterson is available and it seems we aren't even trying with him.

Personally, I wanted Sumlin the last time around (he was reported to be interested), instead of Dooley....but there would have been a certain percentage of folks unhappy with that hire, too. So, there's no way to please the whole fanbase. Some of the polls in the coaches forum have him in a pretty big lead over other prospects, if that tells you anything.

This. The idea of keeping Chaney is growing on me. I have always thought that we should keep Graham and Pittman. Heck even Hinshaw. Those guys are quality coaches. All we need is a defensive minded, hard nose coach and we could be competitive again. I think the thing that upset people the most about Dooley's failure to produce wins was that the talent is obviously there. Give us a good defensive coach and this ship can can righted really quickly.

Strong fits the bill. Proven defensive coach. Great recruiter. If we get him, would be a home run hire. I know he has no experience in SEC as head coach, but as far as I know, neither did Saban when he went from Mich. State to LSU. Im sure their fans said some similar things to what we've been saying about Strong, but we all know how that Saban hire turned out. You never know the next great SEC head coach until the chance is given to them. I think that Strong has all of the qualities of being a great HC. Plus, given the way Meyer's assistants have done, I would rather go the Urban Meyer tree than Saban.
