Apparently Jimbo is out, according to 247:

It appears that Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher plans to stay with the Seminoles and won't pursue any of the current coaching vacancies in college football.

As we reported earlier today, all indications are that Fisher will not be meeting with Tennessee about its head coaching vacancy.

Unless something changes, we don't believe Fisher is in the running to become the next coach of the Vols.

Fisher has mentioned publicly that he is searching for a defensive coordinator to replace Mark Stoops - who left FSU to take the Kentucky head coaching position. Sources with knowledge of the situation indicated to us that Fisher's search for a defensive coordinator is moving forward rapidly, and the position is to be the DC at Florida State - not another program.

Yesterday our friends at Noles247 said they had been given every indication that Fisher would coach the Seminoles' bowl game, which would also fall in line with Fisher staying at FSU.

Things can change rapidly in coaching searches, and we'll continue to monitor this story and bring you any additional updates as we gather them.

No Jimbo is a good, good thing. I'm not a Grudenite but Jimbo would have been Dooley with better recruits.

1st off only a fool would think Dumbo is anywhere close to being the quality coach Butch Davis is. Also it's funny how you jumped to the 6 person down the list haha. Is there like a permanent imprint of his sack on your chin or something?

Explain why you would approve Butch Davis based on his time at UNC. This should be fun.

Last I checked Fisher won the ACC. It may be a weakish conference, but he still won it. It is hard to see why he would leave fsu for a rebuild job at UT in the tougher SEC. He's got a good situation there.

Strong defensive mind and a true great recruiter. His time at UNC was marred by health issues. He's over that now. He not my first choice but hed be a solid hire.

I'm fine with your list, but it seems Patterson, Shaw, and Petersen are out of play. Patterson it seems is content with what he's got now being in a major conference, Shaw is at his alma mater and is going to the rose bowl, and we all know about Petersen.

I would take Jimbo over Butch Davis. Otherwise I don't see Gundy, Mora Jr. or Strong as more proven coaches than Jimbo. That being said, I'll take any of them.

True that could very well be a reason he doesnt leave. SEC is a much tougher conference but if he wants to compete for a National title . he needs to be in a better conference. Some have said he thinks he is not getting the respect he deserves and such.. Honestly though I have no idea what is true anymore when it comes to things like this.

Davis coached in the same league as Jimbo and had far worse results. I don't necessarily want Jimbo would take his results over Davis' any day.
