Jimbo (less with more) Fisher?

I hear you. At least their fans got to watch them play, while UT fans were forced watch other teams play.
Fsu as of right now is an easier place to recruit and the competition is on oar with Tn,ky,vandy and missou. So explain how he will come to tn and recruit better as well as win. We play 6 games a year that would make their acc champ look like a high school team. I'm not saying he won't succeed but if he can't do it in the acc and fsu ,I don't see it happening in the sec and tn .. Jmo

It's amusing to think UT fans would be upset with Fisher. Successful coordinator at SEC, successful recruiter in SEC, and 75% winning percentage. Yeah, he's beneath us.

True, but it's not amusing. It's downright pathetic. Some on here are just cookoo for coco puffs with their outrageously distorted view of our program. People really need to ask themselves....if we are indeed this elite, top 5 national program that only the best of the best want to come coach for, then how did we end up with....wait for it....Derek Freaking Dooley?

FSU has under achieved since Jimbo has been coach. They are ranked in the top 10 to begin the season,, and just slowly taper off from there by seasons end.

Well yeah, but as I am sure you realize, that was an emergency hire forced on us by Kiffin leaving. He was hired in less than a week.

We are not top 5 and never have been, but by the numbers we are 9th and 10th in total wins and win % historically...I can't recall which is which, and not so long ago had been to more bowl games than anyone save bammer.

Factoring in the recent decline, I would say we are still one of the top 15 programs in the country. We should be able to land a top 10 coach at any rate, and I would take Fisher though he is not my first choice.

Agree for the most part, but I can assure you that if the Bama job had to be filled in a week, they would do alot better than what we ended up with.....and the difference is a top 5 program and one that's not.

Every potential coach has strengths and weaknesses, even the demigod Gruden. Fisher, Gundy, Patterson, Strong, and Golden all have indications that they could win big at UT and some indications that they could also fail at UT, though I think each of these candidates would get us back to the 7-10 wins a year range. It remains to be seen if the guy who is hired will get UT back to 90s level. Fisher has SEC experience, recruits very well in the South, and has won his conference. Yes, there has been some underachieving under him but Fulmer had some teams that didn't fulfill their potential as well and Fulmer is an all time great (who on this messageboard would not be thrilled with a similar run that Fulmer had in his first ten years as coaxh?). Sometimes a change of scenery makes a huge difference like Roy Williams from KU to UNC (he has won two national titles after he couldn't win the big one at KU). Gundy wins at Oklahoma State, a perennial red headed stepchild, but his defense has been suspect and he hasn't been in the SEC before (somehow, this wasn't an issue for Sumlin). There are similar notes of praise and criticism for the other candidates. In my mind, the bottom line is that Hart has UT in the running for very desirable coaches (coaches that have demonstrated that they can win their conference championship), unlike when Dooley was hired, and any of the coaches being seriously mentioned will probably be a significant upgrade but no actually available coach (i.e., not Gruden, Bob Stoops, Saban, or Harbaugh) provide a guaranteed big winner. However, each coach would give UT a real shot at regaining our rightful place as a top ten program in the country that once or twice a decade is a real threat to win a national title.

I WISH we has their schedule. Sh!t we'd at least be in a bowl game at 8-4. At least.

Should have won 8 - 4 on OUR schedule this year, minimum.

The former guy in the FSU AD poaches the FSU coach. It's all too easy for me. To me, it's Hart's easiest option, and that just doesn't feel right for the most important hire since Johnny Majors.

We are UT, Hart should be fired with all these championship coaches knocking at the door and none on the list. Anything less than Saban or Harbaugh is beneath us. On second thought Harbaugh had a losing record once and Saban lost to ULM. They are even beneath us. Anything less than The Messiah is unacceptable. If Hart doesn't hire him from the right hand of God, then we are doomed.

We'd be crucifying him too before you know it!

Good post!

I think Fisher is the odds-on favorite.

Now, lets see: You hire away a coach from the (once) mighty FSU, he has great recruiting connections in Florida, he just won the ACC Championship. Certainly beats an attorney, who happens to coach at Southeastern Louisiana Tech Northwest (on paper). Not a monster hire, but a solid one (On paper. Not saying I have followed his career).

Aside from the Gruden fantasy....Jimbo is our best option!! He would win the press conference hire. Gundy ain't leaving, so its either Jimbo or Strong.

Was promised new facilities and now the AD at FSU doesn't want to honor those promises.

LOL. What facilities will not be provided?!?

Financing has already been acquired for both the Indoor Practice Facility and the new player dorms.

The FSU BOT approved the new dorms in October and they'll be up by next Fall.

The weight room was just renovated before Fisher took over...

Well, they went through something very similar when they were down and ended up with Mike Shula.

A better coach than Dooley, but he was on about the same level at the time.

Just repeating what Hubbs said on 104.5.

I understand, it just seems like every day there is more misinformation out there about Fisher.

There was some heat from the Boosters who are paying for all of these facilities (mainly Al Dunlap) after the NC State debacle but now that FSU made a BCS bowl (barely) for the first time in 7 years, Fisher's got more time.

The key is that the real pressure will start next year. FSU better be in the ACC championship game virtually every season from here on out or else his seat will get real hot real quick.
