Jimbo (less with more) Fisher?

We are UT, Hart should be fired with all these championship coaches knocking at the door and none on the list. Anything less than Saban or Harbaugh is beneath us. On second thought Harbaugh had a losing record once and Saban lost to ULM. They are even beneath us. Anything less than The Messiah is unacceptable. If Hart doesn't hire him from the right hand of God, then we are doomed.

I am not one of those guys I just don't like Fisher. That's it. Even guys that like Fisher should be able to see he's the vanilla ice cream of our realistic choices. I know our pickings are slim I'm just in no way excited about Hart bringing in the one coach he's had a past with. It would remain to be seen if Fisher could recruit to UT with the success he's had at FL ST.

Whoopsie...sorry fangs out...I meant that is a positive matter

I read it the first time you posted it.

side note: How can you tolerate all the Gators in Jax? People in VA don't talk smack about the Noles or Vols, but being a Vol in Gainesville 2.0 has to be hell.

edit: perhaps "jax" refers to "jackson" and not to "jacksonville, fla"... in that case ignore my question...

Jimbo's stock and probably pay just went up winning the ACC title; first since 2005. They're going to the Orange Bowl and doubt very seriously he's changing programs between now and News Years. If anything it's he that will be looking for someone to replace Stoops. I bet the odds of landing Gundy or Strong are better

Well yeah, but as I am sure you realize, that was an emergency hire forced on us by Kiffin leaving. He was hired in less than a week.

We are not top 5 and never have been, but by the numbers we are 9th and 10th in total wins and win % historically...I can't recall which is which, and not so long ago had been to more bowl games than anyone save bammer.

Factoring in the recent decline, I would say we are still one of the top 15 programs in the country. We should be able to land a top 10 coach at any rate, and I would take Fisher though he is not my first choice.

Fisher may not be the best name. I think he is a good solid coach though and I think he could be a good fit here. Heck anyone that knows how to beat Florida is ok by me. :)

Now seriously though . some people think all we have to do is throw some money out and coaches will come running. Thats simply not true. If a coach is making 2-3 million a year and they are happy where they are at money is not necessarily a factor. They have many more things to think about than just money. I personally would be happy if he hired fisher.

I bet landing Fisher will be like pouring salt in the wound we left them '98. Let's do it!

FSU will play NIU in the Orange bowl.. seems like a good time to leave if fisher wants to. Not really a good situation to be in. If they somehow lose it would be very embarrassing for him and the program.. If you win so what you just beat NIU.

True, but it's not amusing. It's downright pathetic. Some on here are just cookoo for coco puffs with their outrageously distorted view of our program. People really need to ask themselves....if we are indeed this elite, top 5 national program that only the best of the best want to come coach for, then how did we end up with....wait for it....Derek Freaking Dooley?

Agreed.

On a side note, I wanted to let you know you posted something last week that got my attention. You stated you may not agree with everyone on the board but did not have anyone on your ignore list because you wanted to hear what everyone had to say. It may not always be pleasant but you take them as they are. After I read that, I removed the one person that I had on my ignore list. Thanks for a different perspective.

Jimbo worked under Saban for 5yrs.. He's basically a Saban guy. I thought we wanted to get away from those connections? TN is a unique job because of the different challenges presented and we were successful when we kept stayed in the family and network. 80yrs of success. Now we went and hired a Saban disciple (Dooley), a Saban disciple for DC (Sal), a Bama boy as AD, and now we're going back to that well after everything that has transpired? This search has been very telling of the current state of our AD and I'm personally not happy with what I've seen thus far.

We can do worse than Jimbo buts he's underachieved in the ACC. Hes no Saban killer. Get used to 7-5/8-4 every year.

Was lurking on the fsu message board and the fans are turning on Fisher. Most of them want him gone. It is always a bad sign when the fans don't want you anymore. I hope Hart doesn't make theor probelm ours.

Mainly because Hamilton was an utterly incompetent AD. But it's the fact that he was able to convince people like you that we're some mediocre program--that should stick to hiring Sun Belt coaches and college coordinators--that allowed him to stick around for so long anyway.

Following a legend is seldom a good position to be in. So, I am not surprised a number of fans are turning on him. I can't say Fisher has been at the top of my list, but I could live with it and support it. And Florida State is in the same boat as Florida, playing a team you should crush, but may not be motivated to even suit up against.

Yeah, I'd want my coach gone for winning my conference for the first time since 2005 and going to a BCS game in his 3rd year as a HC.

DumbA$$ fans. I'll take Fisher anyday.

I wouldn't be upset with Fisher, I just think there are better candidates. Just because he's the HC at FSU doesn't mean he's going to be the best coach available.

I'm sure it will for some, but there are a lot of FSU fans who are not sure what to think of Fisher. If he did leave, the next coach will inherit a loaded roster, new facilities, and a team that is trending upwards, so a lot of fans don't think FSU would have a terrible time finding a replacement. Not to mention that the BCS bowl payout would be useful for the new contract.

He beat a now 6-7 Georgia Tech. A team that was one win better then Dooley in a conference that is failing a part. I'm not sure that the Vols wouldn't have had a shot at playing in that game if we were in the ACC. I mean tickets were being sold for $2 a piece lol.

It's just when I look at him, I see a man with South Florida talnet that struggles to win games and loses a few games he is suppost to win. If he can't beat Muschamp (in his second year)with the talnet he has access to now. What makes you think he can beat him, Saben, or richt with the talnet he will get here?

My thoughts exactly.

Jimbo has had nothing but stellar recruiting classes and delivered less than stellar performances against less than stellar opponents...The man can recruit but he has yet to prove he can coach to that same level.

I guess the other 11 coaches who lost to Muschamp this yr are horrible also....you do realize that Fisher is 2-1 against Florida....so that means he beat Urban in his first year at FSU....something any of our coaches never could do.....
