How's life in the trailer park?

That's a very sanctimonious attitude on your part.

How are your Drake Group meetings?

There's a balance to be had here, and no one is arguing against UT having high quality academics. We have legion of Nobel Prize winners and generate hundreds of millions of dollars in research funds and donations to both athletics and academics. What needs to be fixed there?

What we want is the Thornton Center back under athletics where people better understand the pressures athletes are under as well as people who are more interested in the long term success of our student-athletes. What kills me is the lie that the Drake Group people care about our graduation rates. They don't.

One thing about the whole academic problems. I remembered hearing about this before somewhere and finally put my finger on it while I was at work. At around 7:55 in the press conference of Dooley's firing:

Hart mentioned "disadvantages." One was competitive in nature...meaning what I don't know. But at 8:07, he mentions "academic competitive disadvantages that we are eliminating." Goes on to say they are being "addressed and rectified."

Could mean the academic standards are going away for new recruits. Starting when...who knows.

There is to much learning going on in that school!!

Quit with that learning she-it! UT' purpose is to be there for all Tennessee kids who want a good undergraduate education, not to be some Harvard on the River. We already have one snob school in this state. Jimmy the Cheek's focus on being a top25 research university does nothing for our undergraduates, and he's the reason that MTSU is the largest undergrad school in the state. That is embarrassing. So enough with the academic junk! Being top 25 in some magazine does nothing for the Knoxville economy. Your little buddy Cheeky Boy will soon be gone., God willing!

The real damage he's done is to attempt to impose Ivy League type admissions standards on our athletes. That's not what this school is. No one is saying they have to be in the gutter, but they don't belong in the other extreme, either.

LOL What Ivy League standards? Care to be specific?

Omari Phillips and Cordarelle Patterson want to know how they slipped by our Ivy League standards. Good stuff.

Agree. Tennessee is a football school. Anyone who wants a world class education that will propel them to a top tier graduate school can find it at UT...IF THEY SEEK IT OUT and look for the tough classes and tough majors. If someone wants to slide by with a "less than marketable degree" and just skate by for 4-5 years then they can do that too by finding some softball classes and majors. The point is, the UT admin needs to get over their schizophrenic approach to football and go ALL IN. The fans and alumni have always been all in and are being let down by the people that WE PAY. Cheek and Hart need to go.
