I was told that Clausen's dad has some things to say either about Coach Fulmer or Tennessee football in general. Does anyone know exactly what it was he said, or where to find his comments? Thanks!

The only thing i read about it, He (daddy Clausen) was talking about Sanders leaving and that was the pull for Casey, Rick and Jimmy. More or less said Tennessee is no longer on Jimmys list.

There may have been more to it than that? :dunno:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHA

What a load of bullocks. Sanders was the reason Rick came to UT?

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

We took him in when no one else wanted him. We were Casey's 3rd or 4th choice, er, the other 3 or 4 never offered.

Jimmy Clausen doesn't come to UT for one reason.

Crompton.

Bye Daddy Clausen, hope you get your money back from your condo. :pimp:

This "list" is pissing me off.

It has more crosses through it than a cathedral. Call him back and tell him we'll be fine with them "rectally emplanting" that list. Our defense will be just as happy on the field with him as our offense would have been.

We need a mobile QB. Has anyone noticed that that is a key to success these days? I did see Ainge tuck it and run a few times against ND where I know Rick would have thrown for the sidelines or a covered reciever. That was encouraging.

Oh please, say it ain't so! I have visions of the Leak recruit, the Simms recruit. My hope is UT doesn't waste its time own
tippy-toeing around trying to appease Jimmy Clausen and his parents. He either wants to be a (True) Vol or not. The Univerisity of Tennessee desrves NOTHING LESS! So, either crap or get off the pot!

I hope he gets off the pot. His brothers have not been all that impressive and I have a feeling that he is way overrated.

i agree, and i don't think he was ever really considering UT anyway...yeah, we were on the list, but from what i've heard, USC and Notre Dame have been 1 & 2 for long time.

Being from Charlotte, and seeing this Chris Leak debacle from day one, i was hoping he wouldn't come to UT when it was all said and done...and look at him now, going in to his Sr Season next year and has never lived up to the hype...he chose poorly...going on his 2nd or 3rd OC since he's been there, and he got the crap beat out of him all season long...GOOD CHOICE!!

One thing about Fulmer I do respect, he's not going to let some 18 year old dictate how he handles players on the roster now. either you're good enough to play or your not, at least in his eyes!! LOL.

With all respect to the Clausen family, Jimmy can come to UT if he wants to, if not ; Good Luck.

Exactly. You come here to play because you love the program. If you don't love it or want to give the 110% we don't want you. Crybaby attitudes just cause more problems. Leak thought he was being smart by running to UF. He tried to spite us by making that move and it's biting him in the rear with a system he just can't seem to master. The great QB he was supposed to be just can't handle anything thrown at him...so to speak.

We're in this age where coaches have to be beggars trying to bend and appease a bunch of HS kids with super-ego parents. If you don't want to come here to play ball because of what this program stands for go showboat and be a primadonna somewhere else.

If Jimmy is as slow a runner as his two brothers we don't need him. We need a QB that can run for his life since our WR can't get open or catch the ball when they do get open.

I disagree. I don't think a mobile QB is a prerequisite; and it down the list from being a good passer, IMO. First, become a good passer and field general. Then, if you happen to be really mobile, great. For an example of what I think works best, see some of these guys:

Matt Leinart, USC
Peyton Manning, TN
Brady Quinn, ND
Danny Weurfell, FL
Chris Wienke, FSU
Ken Dorsey, MIA

P.S. Casey Clausen was a top 5 QB in the country the year he came here. He was a big time recruit. Tom Lemming said he was probably the best pure passer in the nation that year.

P.P.S. I'm not sure why people were so hard on him. I thought he was a heck of a QB.

P.P.P.S. I'd give my left nadular to have him right now. He'd be light years improvement from what we've got.

Hell yeah, i agree!!

Casey Clausen was a fine passer for UT. We had plenty of suspect defenses opposite the roster when he was here. He could put points on the scoreboard with his arm, no doubt.

Even if you disagree with how good he was, you have to admit that he was way better than what we've got now.

People didn't like him. Why?? Because we didn't win as much as the rest of the world would have liked.

Quite frankly, if Jimmy is as good as they say, I'd like him to play here. Casey was good, and if Jimmy is better, than we need to get him here!

yeah, me too. But from I'd heard and "felt", I don't think he was ever coming here.

ND
USC
So CAR

One of those would be my bet. I'd say Notre Dame if I had to put it up.

And yes, I think Casey was both good and a winner. When our team around him was playing OK in 2001, he was VERY good.

Yadda yadda yadda "mobile QB" yadda yadda yadda "mobile QB"...

That is not a requirement to be a successful QB. I know one guy has already posted a list. And, the list of successful non-mobile QB's is even longer than that. Not taking a proven skilled QB because he is not mobile would be idiotic.

...and I thought Marcus Vick looked really mobile last week. He was 1 for 10 and 1INT in the 1st half, but he moved around really well.

The problem with the mobile <running> QB is injury.

Ask Georgia about how their NC hopes went up in smoke.

I was talking to somebody about this the other day. I agree with you, but the funny thing is, back in the day when a lot of teams were running the opion, I don't remember seeing very many QBs getting hurt.

How about a pocket passer that can run well? Isn't that what we have in Crompton?

Yeah look at shockley... a mobile Qb is going to get hurt. #1 BE SMART. know when to run... pass.... slide....and throw it away.

Good point. I'm guessing it's because the defenses have gotten so much faster which is one reason the option went away.
